The Bruins will have a new home (WBZ-FM) this fall and it officially launched Thursday afternoon. In just a day and a half, Tim Thomas, Milan Lucic, Shawn Thornton and owner Jeremy Jacobs all were on for separate interviews.  Thats more Bruins in one day then WEEI had on all last season.  The interviews can be heard here .

    From spector’s hockey:

NESN.COM:James Murphy reported restricted free agent Phil Kessel said there’s nothing new to report regarding his contract negotiations with the club. Kessel said he understands it’s a business, hinted at the possibility of a trade but also claimed he expects a deal to be struck before the club opens the season on October 1st against the Washington Capitals. Kessel and his deadline said there’s no date for a deadline but Murphy wondered if Kessel’s claim a deal could be in place by October 1st was a slip of the tongue, his opinion or an ultimatum for the Bruins.

BOSTON GLOBE: Kevin Paul Dupont also reported on Kessel’s comments, noting he believes something will be done before October 1st. Kessel wouldn’t say what he’s looking for in a contract other than perhaps a three year deal at “fair value”. He did however say he’s not seeking anything comparable to that of Philadelphia’s Jeff Carter ($5 million per season) or LA’s Anze Kopitar ($6.8 million per). Dupont believes the Bruins set the bar for Kessel when they re-signed teammate David Krejci to $3.75 million per season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I think he’s looking for around $4.5 million per over three years. The Bruins don’t have until December 1st to re-sign Kessel otherwise he’d be ineligible to play this upcoming season. We’ll find out soon enough if this situation will be resolved prior to October 1st.

    AND I LOVE THIS!

CSNPHILLY.COM: Tim Panaccio recently dismissed a rumor from Hockeybuzz.com claiming the Philadelphia Flyers were interested in trading for Heatley.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Heatley has been able to dodge the media for the past two months since news of his trade request broke in mid-June but Team Canada officials are quite right in not wanting his trade status to dog their upcoming orientation camp. As for the Heatley to Flyers rumor, that was just silly.
