What Does Toronto Have to Offer?

We all know that the Toronto Maple Leafs are very interested in Boston Bruins young sniper Phil Kessel, but what do they have to offer?

Everyone seems to be saying that Kessel to Toronto should happen soon and that the Leafs are far and away the front runners.  I tend to see this more as another “it’s Brian Burke” type thing.

The Bruins aren’t going to deal Kessel to a division rival for 2 1sts and second. Not to be blunt, but the Leafs have no roster play the Bruins want aside from Luke Schenn, who according to Leafs fans is the next Ray Bourque.

Everyone is saying that talks with teams like Nashville, New York and Los Angeles are just to up the offer from Burke.  Sure, but I’m pretty sure Nashville and Los Angeles have better pieces than Toronto to land Kessel.

The Bruins also have the option of matching a Toronto offer sheet, and then trading off Kobasew, Ference or Bergeron and then Burke doesn’t get his guy.

The Bruins are in no real need to trade Kessel right now, and if an offer sheet comes, the Bruins are going to match it.

Unless the Bruins are blown away, Kessel will remain with the team under contract or not.  All this talk of Kessel to the Leafs is premature, and if he does go to the Leafs, it will be a lot more than 2 1sts and a 2nd.

AHAHAHA 2 firsts and a 2nd not enough? Thats way to much for kessel although i beleive that is what it’s going to take for boston to deal him within the division. Almost every major North American sports network (tsn, sportsnet, espn) see’s this deal as a gross over payment for kessel and most people would agree. Send him an offer sheet and force Chirelli’s hand.

Let him go to the leafs. the Bruins know about the toe-drag move so he’s no threat.

lol who’s going to pass kessel the puck ? Put him and jason blake on the same line and it will be the best puck hogg line in the NHL. lol

I really dont care where he goes but I do like Jack Johnson, Drew Doughty and if we can get one of those kids from LA I would do it in a heart beat.

JUICEBOX Yes 2 first and a 2nd sounds like alot 4 Kessel but as much as I hate the Leafs they are going to be better then last year so those picks your getting excited about are going to be in higher teens Kessel was 5th overal I just feel that we should be getting a damn good prospect and a 1st at least.

I dont think the Bruins are going to match. Why would you trade players from your team that want to be there for a guy who doesnt. Doesn’t make sense. By saying that they will match Chiarelli is forcing teams to drive the price up and if they do then the Bruins get greater compensation. If he cant work out a trade my guess is he rolls the dice and lets a team make an offer. The only thing I am not sure about is what happens after 1 Oct. I heard someone say that after that date the Bruins cant match. Not sure about that.

Drew Doughty isn’t going anywhere but Kessel definitely NEEDS to be moved. Next summer’s free agents are much more valuable to the B’s than Kessel. If they don’t sign Lucic, I’m burning the city down.

  6. bruinsfanupnorth says:

i hear ya. I think Lucic will be a priority and I think they will get him signed pretty quick.

  7. bruinsfanupnorth says:

good news. I will be sitting in front of the tube tomorrow night and wednesday night watching the rangers vs bruins and then bruins vs leafs. damn cant wait.

This has turned into a night mare.

bruins may get ian white to shore-up the defensive line…he can also play forward.
