First Period

20:00 Hamill in between Wheeler and Sturm to start this one.

19:00 Hamill with a nice pass to Wheeler at the left faceoff dot. Wheeler with a decent shot, save.

18:25 Old Friend Mike Sullivan being shown on the bench for the Rangers. He’s their new assistant coach.

15:03 Hunwick with a bad turnover in his own end. Good thing Brashear was the Ranger who got the puck. Way wide by Brashear

13:58 High sticking penalty against the Rangers. Lets see who gets some powerplay time.

13:50 Sturm-Hamil-Wheeler up front. Hunwick-Penner back on the blueline.

12:24Wheeler to Sturm who feeds backdoor to Hamil. Beautiful goal. 1-0 Bruins.

First Period Recap

The top line of Sturm-Hamil-Wheeler looks good. Sturm is flying around as usual. Hamil has looked impressive.

Byron Bitz has had some nice opportunities in the slot but missed the net and on a second chance shot the puck directly into the NY symbol in the goaltenders chest.

The Bruins forecheck is resulting in the Rangers taking penalties.

Hunwick was on the right side for the majority of the first.

Marc Staal looks very good for the Rangers.

Second Period

20:00 Sobotka’s line starts the second. Arniel is in on the left side with Sobotka centering. Bodnarchuk is playing with boychuk on the points.

18:38 Penner with a little hold on a Rangers forward. Probably got away with one

17:51 Nice shift by Marchard who skated through a hit, cut towards the center of the ice, and got a nice wrist shot on goal.

17:32 Sauve with a drop pass to Chara at the left blueline. Easy save.

16:48 Sturm still flying. Throws one out in front. Cannot connect with Wheeler.

14:17 Bitz with a nice little pass to Whitfield. Whitfield takes a shot from the left circle but shoots wide.

13:43 Chara takes a lazy holding penalty.  Rangers PP coming up.

Bitz and Sobotka up front with Boychuk and Bodnarchuk at the points.

13:40 Rangers just rang one off the post.

12:38 Kotalik with a bomb from the left point. Good save by Rask.

Two shots on goal for the Rangers PP units. Their starting to get some momentum.

10:27 Rask has some troubles handling the puck behind his own net. Rangers steal get a good scoring chance. Rask responded well and got back into position.

9:49 Matt Caron with a golden chance out in front after the puck got lost in a few bodies. Rask with the save.

8:43 Marchard crashes to the net with the puck. Tied up. TV timeout.

Rangers with a new goaltender.  Matt Zaba now in.

7:29 Bitz took a big hit from Semenov right in front of the Bruins bench.

6:40 Rask stones Brashear again who picked up a lose puck right at the top of the crease.

1:45 Rangers throw one in front. Bounces around near the crease but never gets through to Rask.

0:04 Chara misplays a puck behind the net.  Rangers with the steal. Shot wide right of Rask.

Second Period Recap

Kind of a boring period. Rangers are starting to play a better overall game. Their powerplay looked pretty good and generated some decent scoring chances. Rask continues to look strong through two periods.  PK forwards include Marchard, Sobotka, Bitz, and Arniel. All defensemen rotated in on the PK.

Third Period

Sauve’s line starts this period

18:58 Higgins with a nice chance in the slot. Good block by Penner.

18:23 Rangers applying pressure and generating some chances. Rask ties it up to slow things down.

Boychuk now paired with McQuaid (both right handed defensemen). Rangers cycling the puck but not much pressure.

15:43 Chara with a good hit to keep the puck in. Chara playing the right side with Bodnarchuk.

14:59 Marchard gets hit from behind by Kotalik (with Avery out, who else?). Boarding call coming up.

Top line out there for the PP with Hunwick and Bodnarchuk at the points.

13:33 Lucic drives down the left side. Centers to Kobasew. Good save by Zaba.

13:23 Lucic with a great pass from  behind the net to Sauve who is all alone in front. Sauve beats him five hole. 2-0 Bruins

Good powerplay pressure from the Lucic-Sauve-Kobasew line which resulted in a goal.

10:58 Boyle with a shot from the left faceoff circle. Shoulder save by Rask. Rebound results in a second chance. Rask smothers second opportunity.

9:55 Chara with a bad clearing attempt. Semenov keeps it in at the right point and sends it across for a quick onetimer. Rebound to Higgins. Higgins with a goal for the Rangers. 2-1 Bruins

A reply shows the puck actually left the zone. Lucky break for the Rangers. Linesman missed the call.

9:20 Rangers applying pressure. Gilroy(might have been Callahan) with a golden opportunity from the slot but Rask makes another good save.

Maccarone sporting a mean stash a la George Parros.

8:35 Hamil’s line applying pressure. Sturm with two nice plays.

Lucic’s line had a good scoring chance. The Rangers responded with a few chances of their own. Rask made a few timely saves.

6:37 Higgins with a chance from right in front. Back hand went over the net.

Rangers really applying the pressure putting the Bruins back on their heels.

4:30 Sauer with a shot on Rask. Easy save. Tv timeout.

1:56 Arniel with a nice defensive play. Skates the puck out, kills some time.

1:10 Callahan collides with Rask and gets the a goaltender interference penalty. Callahan didn’t exactly try and get out of Rask’s way.

0:47 Sauve with a nice play to Kobasew who gets a good shot off. Zaba with the save.

0:34 Chara with a bomb from the right point. Zaba with the glove save.

Rangers call a timeout. They’re still shorthanded.

 Wheeler doing some good board work. The 15 pounds of muscle came in handy there, killing about 10 more seconds off the clock. 

That will do it, 2-1 Bruins.

    The game aired on a New York station. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to see these in Mass either.
