Savard placed on LTI with broken foot

The Bruins have placed leading scorer Marc Savard on LTI with a broken left foot. According to NESN and 98.5 the Sports Hub, Savard is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. This is another huge blow for the Bruins who are already without Milan Lucic. The Bruins will rely heavily on Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci to fill in while Savard is out. In addition to placing Savard on LTI, they have recalled forward Trent Whitfield from Providence on an emergency basis. Since it is an emergency basis, Whitfield may be here in chance Shawn Thornton is unable to play tonight. Thornton has missed the past two practices with a minor injury and is questionable for tonight’s game. Here is a possible projected lineup:

What is going on? Although, kinda glad this is happening now instead of at the end of the year. But really, what is going on here?

  2. psands says:

what the hell, this year has been so weird.

now i understand the paille trade a little more.

im gonna keep on saying it until it happens, trade andrew ference.

  3. Jmed says:

I agree, can we sit or trade ference

  4. Mook says:

    gut check time!

too bad for savard, he can kiss the olympics goodbye.

  5. Mook says:

how did he break his foot? it wasn’t during a game (according to sportsnet)

  6. Gcole says:

might as well call up everyone from providence for fucks sake. shits going downhill quick

  7. pekese says:

According to Fluto it occurred while practicing during the preseason.

  8. psands says:

Everything is crashing down right now, but ist is early and I agree with Vince. It’s best for this thing to happen now, we have a bunch of guys that NEED to get a chance. Savvy is the last person we need to go down though!

why trade Andrew Ferrence the big problem with this team is taking stupid penalties and PK why dont we get and most of the penalties have come from Chara and hunwick and also morris sucks!!!!! actually lets just trade savard or maybe lucic. damn you people panic to much, its seven games into the season!!! relax and stop demanding trades.

  13. da wreck says:

those are the “breaks”. HAHA get it? Really though, lots of talent in Providence. Bruins will be fine.

  14. psands says:

i want to trade ference because i want boychuk to get a shot, and ference is our worst defender, and we need what boychuk brings, size, solid physical defense man, who can move the puck a little and put the puck on net.

this isn’t the first time i’ve said this, but i will repeat it, i like ference, i think he is good at what he does, but we already have 3 others like him, and i think we have a small, unbalanced defense that is to easy to play against.

hence why i want ference gone, so boychuk can have an every day shot.

    Matt Hunwick 7 2 1 3 -2 6 1 0 0 0 0 3 .667
    Dennis Wideman 4 1 1 2 -2 0 1 0 0 0 0 10 .100
    Derek Morris 7 0 2 2 -4

    Mark Stuart 7 1 2 3 6 6 0 0 0 0 0 4 .250
    Andrew Ference 7 0 1 1 4 6 0 0 0 0 0 9 .000

yeah i guess Ference with a plus for who is second on the team is are worse defense men. before you post about the bruins be sure to actually watch them thx!!

1-0 Nashville after 1. Again no consistency or flow to the B’s game. Hell we cannot even accept a pass properly. Too much hesistancy. Unless the B’s start to play instinctively rather than try to think the game it’s going to be a long dreadful season.

Best period i’ve seen in a few games. Love the young guys and the much needed energy they bring. Good to see Marchand getting on the scoreboard, wish Boychuk was in there too, loved the physical presence he brought. Bergeron is dominant in both ends and the most valuable player to this point hands down.

  18. Froggy says:

A lot better period by the B’s. More energy and intensity. If they can just pick up their physicality and skating the boys will be all right.

  19. Bruins says:

big win. way to pull together as a team

  20. Birdman2403 says:

Ference, Wideman and Morris all struggled today. That game was sloppy and ugly.But…..a win is a win at this point. This team just has to win 3 or 4 in a row and get rolling. All the pieces are there, just have to put them in order ! Big one tomorrow against Philly !!

  21. psands says:

sorry wardoftherings, should have said that he was our most disposable defense man. we would not get rid of any of the other guys, at least i dont think they would. i simply like the size boychuk brings, and i think ference would make the most sense to cut loose.

i dont think that plus/minus seven or eight games into the season matters, do you? thx lol idk jk

anyways, the team was weird to watch tonight, solid grind it out game to get the win, but so many new names.

i really liked the young kids and what they all brought.

  22. willisss says:

we started to move the puck real well. actually. patrice started working the puck real well. he was unreal last night. the bruins played like shit for the majority of the game so i’m not all that thrilled, but a win is a win.

did anyone else notice how shitty mark recchi looked? or has been looking…

  23. Bruins says:

one great thing about a poor start to the season overall: welcome back bergie! he has been unreal so far this season and is looking like his old self

  24. Kurt says:

Does anyone know why they don’t call up Brad Marchand or
