I just set up a Twitter account for Bruinsrumors.  On the right side bar there are updates.  Just going to use it to talk to people and fool around with it.  Check it out from time to time.  I’ll use it to post quick stuff.

BOSTON GLOBE: Kevin Paul Dupont reports don’t expect Ilya Kovalchuk to be wearing a Bruins jersey this season as the high price the Atlanta Thrashers would seek, which could include players like Milan Lucic and David Krejci, would be too expensive for the Bruins to absorb for a rental player.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Bruins will likely be in the market for scoring help but it won’t be for an expensive rental player like Kovalchuk.

    p.s.: this blog sucks now.

  2. Matt says:

I think PC’s issue is the following.

He has to give up a kings ransom for Kovalchuk. Kovy is unsigned and thus he then has to pay him a ton to keep him. It’s a double whammy.

If Kovy was signed, he’d probably deal Krejci for him. And if the rumors are true Kovy is going to be available July 1st, why not just wait and offer him a huge deal then to avoid giving up assets.

  3. willisss says:

Atlanta wants Rask, and it doesnt look like their interested in anyone else. its all over the hub. but now the blackhawks are front runners for them? a team with NO cap room?

  4. Birdman2403 says:

If we accept the fact Kovy is out of the question, then lets move on here. Who, in reality, could the B’s go after that can SCORE ??

  5. Kurt says:

If all they want is Rask, i’ll drive him to the airport. If we gave Tim all that money why would we keep him as a future back up. With Thomas’s escalating contract no one will take him in the future with his age and increasing cap number. I think alot of people are under estimating the value of someone who scores consistantly. It takes the pressure off of some of the players. It will create more room for his Kovi’s line mates Savard and Sturm. Exponentially it will make the team more confident.

  6. Kurt says:

Haggerty says that Atlanta wants Rask.

  7. bruins4eva says:

at this point i dont care what they do….they better do something and do it fast

  8. backbruin says:

i’ll pay for his flight let’s get it done sign him and we go after a goalie with one of our draft picks.timmy can hold the fort for anothe 2-3 years!!!

i’d give rask in a heartbeat if that’s what it takes!

  9. pearson says:

    do they want just rask?
if so, you do that in a heartbeat

    rask and bostons first. deal.

  10. cebbie says:

It would kind of hurt to loose Rask but he has only played a few games and really has’nt proven shit yet.
Right now goalies are a dime a dozen – pure goal scorers are rare – If they sign Kov long term, bite the bullet and get it done. Krejci – Lucic – Bergeron – Boychuck – Savard – Morris – Wheeler in my opinion should be the only untouchables the rest can leave anytime – and no I did not forget Chara – he is not worth the money he is getting paid. It is not too late in the season – last year Shitsburg played like crap until late in the season and they ended up with the cup.

    • goosegoose35 says:

Goalies dime a dozen? what are you smoking? Do you remember the how awesome the bruins were when we had no goal-tending and great scorers? there are plenty of “good” goalies but there are not many great goalies. Rask is not a great goalie but has the potential to be one. He’s 22. He will be great.

      • goosegoose35 says:

Oh and Shittsburg won the cup because of GREAT GOAL TENDING. If they do not have Flury then they do not win the cup.

  11. goosegoose35 says:

I was just looking at the bruins schedule. 9 out of the next 16 games are against division opponents. This stretch will make or break the team. Lets hope they wake the fuck up

  12. backbruin says:

I think they were talking rask, wheeler, and are T.O. first round…now that is a lot but….. i would consider it if he signed a long term deal….I think we would quickly forget about wheels and rask if that happened!

  13. Whopperfoo says:

I say shoot for Penner and draft well. No guarantees that kovy will sign a longterm deal when russia is calling with the big big bucks. Now I’ve said all along that a deal with Atlanta AND Chicago that has the following:

ATL gets boston picks and prospects
    CHI gets kovy
    BOS gets barker and sharp

This would make a ballin deal. That and moving bergeron to the top line.

    Lucic – Savard – Bergeron

    • cebbie says:

Dont know if I like bergeron as a winger – I think he is a much better as a centerman. Savard – Lucic they need a true shooter – kinda like Kessel without the imature shit attitude and more than one drag and shoot move.

    • Leafstank says:

i totally agree whopper. make an attempt for penner and draft well with our shit load of picks. and if that three way trade presents itself, then make it happen. And last, the Bergeron idea is pretty good. ive actually been saying that lately. our top two scores on the same line. why not? give it a shot

  14. Haus says:

We need not to get suckered into a deal for Kovy, hes gone back to Russia next year. I like the bergy wing idea, remember he played there when he broke into the league? He can still take all the draws. Cebbie, are you kidding me? Boychuk, who is a 6th dman and a free agent after this year, is untouchable? Shows you dont know shit about hockey.

    • cebbie says:

Kidding me – I have watched every game this year – Boychuck has been the best defenceman next to Morris all year – I bet he beats Chara in a hardest shot comp. shoots and hits hard – pinches at the right time and has made some great plays – Shit – he is just a kid – He has to be locked up long term. If you place him number 6 this year you don’t know shit about hockey

  15. Haus says:

I like him too but im not gonna fucking lose my mind like you are. Yes, hes got a hard shot and can hit. But he is definitely not a good skater. Its not just me saying this, it comes from scouts that have watched him since he was drafted 8 years ago. And hes not a kid hes 26 just like Stuey. Watch how often he is on his ass per shift. But like i said i like him, hes like Hnidy with more offense.

    • cebbie says:

I can agree with that – Maybe comparing him to Wideman , Chara and Ference this year he does look better than he really is. But I think they should keep him and loose the previous mentioned dead weight. I do think we should have kept Hnidy
