Marchand in; Paille out

Brad Marchand is playing on the fourth line over Daniel Paille tonight. Good to see Julien finally giving a younger player a shot. However, sitting Paille, arguably the teams best penalty killer, seems like a strange selection. Julien needs to start looking at fourth liners like Steve Begin and Shawn Thornton as players who should be scratched.

yeah, i’m turning the game off for tonight. bruins/devils games are boring enough to watch as it is, but this one is just painful.

  2. Birdman2403 says:

Or Satan or Ryder !! I was looking forward to this game tonight. However, after the first 15 min. I’m going out instead.

This team frustrates the shit out of me. The way they play is like they are in first place by 10 points. No one is desperate to do anything.

    I hope they can come back…but I just don’t see it !

  3. BostonVin says:

Is anyone watching this game? I don’t even think the coaching staff is paying attention.

  4. G cole says:

Dam what a sweet play by brodeur setting
    up that goal…

  5. G cole says:

5 to go, get a powerplay, and ofcourse they won’t score.. Bunch of idiots

  6. DallasSmith says:

Another painful loss tonight. Cooke and the Penguins are the least of this teams problems. They may be out of the eigth spot by Thursday morning…Chara has lost a step…Takes a lot of guts to push ads for 2010-11 season tickets as the best way to guarantee playoff seats in April.

  7. BearsBB says:

    tomorrow is a must win

  8. willisss says:

can steve begin just not be a bruin anymore?

  9. willisss says:

so i just woke up with a brash theroy. now first and foremost, i am not known to be a conspiracy theorist by any means, however for some reason i can not help but to think highly of this.

cooke was not suspended….and everyone is trying to think of reasons why.

    *tv ratings*

now if someone brought this up already i apologize, not trying to steal anyones ideas, i simply have not been on this as of late. for some reason it makes sence. how many people will be watching this game? this cooke talk is nation wide. with nhl ratings not sky rocketing, why wouldnt they want alittle help?

  10. backbruin says:

Tim should have never started tonight and i said this yesterday!!!bad coaching…tuuka wanted to make that game up and he would have played hard as he did in the 2nd and 3rd!!!

not smart coaching on Julien’s part!!!hind sight is 20 20 ya blah blah..in my eyes this was a no brainer!!!rask should play every game for us!!

  11. Haus says:

Regarding the subject header, Marchand has played well in the minutes hes gotten while Paille has been making rookie mistakes at key moments all year. All he had to do on montreals second goal was show a little initiative but instead the puck was knocked in right at his feet. I remember at least 2 poor changes that led to goals this season. This has been the knock on him since Buffalo drafted him, that hes not very dedicated and cerebral on the ice, and thus never reached his potential. He is a good penalty killer but i see no reason for the Bruins to resign him in the offseason. Side note on my last post regarding widemans sticks. Hes broken 6 sticks in the last 2 games, and after it happens he gets down and loses focus. Watching both games i started pointing it out to others i watched it with and they think i may be on to something. He does seem to need to be in a comfort zone. After being traded here he didnt play well and i believe he said in an interview he didnt quite settle in. No way a player goes from excellent to sub-par this fast without an injury or personal issue and this is just one fans opinion.

    • Bruins says:

agreed on wideman. the only word i can describe his downfall is unthinkable. it makes no sense for a guy to be so good for two straight seasons, and then all of a sudden turn into the worst player on the team. there has to be something we don’t know about.

i for one am against trading him in the offseason with his value this low.

  12. Haus says:

by changes obviously i mean line changes.

  13. Haus says:

I have faith that wideman will turn it around once he gets whatever is nagging him squared away, whether it be a stick issue or something else. I know i cant be the only one who has noticed that his sticks snap all the time, by far more than anyone elses and when they dont, he heels everything. I also notice hes always checking it like hes pissed off at it.

  14. mook says:

um…can’t blame timmy for those goals. defense all the way. chara played like junk and so did pretty-much everyone else in the defensive zone.

rask made 3 stops the rest of the night…

i say start timmy tonight. he’s a veteran and deserves a shot to get back on his horse.

    • #4 says:

Idk I think that if tuuka had started it wouldve only been 1-0 after the first period to be honest. Rask woudlve deff stopped the 1st and 3rd goals maybe not the second that was an awesome pass by broduer.

Anyways I always get the feeling of WTF are you doing while I watch the bruins setup in the offensive zone. Ive started watching alot of pitt/wash games and Bostons offensive zone pressure is nothing compared to that. Players always pass when they should skate it, shoot when they should pass, and skate when they shouldve passed it. Sloppy bad decisions that prevent goals and offensive pressure from building up.

Anyways, good job looking like a real hockey team for the last 1:30 of that game B’s.

    • backbruin says:

Sorry mook but i couldn’t disagree more. Rask should have started that game and should most definitely start tonight! He made 16 saves in the last two periods and had something to prove after his last game. Timmy just doesn’t have it this year and we need to recognize this going into the last 14-15 games! We have way more problems then who should play net on this team, but let’s get it right there first and play Rask!

      • pearson says:

dude we always disagree but i think your spot on here. timmy deserves to play, BUT we cant score goals and tuuk gives up less goals. so lets keep him there and try to turn this is thing (QUICKLY) around

i fell asleep for the 1st period, but when i woke up for the start of the 2nd, saw it was 3-0
        a) i knew timmy started
        b) i knew tuuk was gonna be in net
        c) with the offensive attack we have, this game was likely over

no way they go with timmy tonight

      • mook says:

        hindsight is 20/20.

  15. mook says:

this team lacks chemistry, and that’s because of the injuries. sure, i know, it’s an excuse but it is what it is.

i still think if they can make the playoffs they beat washington. in fact, i’d bet on it…and i will.

    quick fixes:
    sit satan. sit thornton.

watch paille tonight…he’ll be on fire.

    • Gcole says:

well until they all wake up and start playing like they want to instead of playing like they have to, theyre not beating anyone in the playoffs.. and how much longer do they need to do that? seems like all im waiting for this year is for them to play like they can, and its just one disappointing game after another..

  16. backbruin says:

I love the sobotka, marchand, lucic line and i really want them to stay together!

    • #4 says:

I agree it I actually have no clue why Sob doesnt play every single game actually. And marchand looks good too, or at least both of them seem to care. DO we really need thornton out there losing fights?

Id rather the B’s play Sobotka, Marchand, maybe bring up other talent like hamill or anybody who is scoring in Provy. And have Satan-thornton-begin sit its like what willis said

      willisss Says:

      March 15, 2010 at 9:51 pm | Reply
can steve begin just not be a bruin anymore?

Hahah in 15 games if the B’s are playing golf i can guarantee you wont see him back.

  17. backbruin says:

    in;marchand,sobotka,?
    out;thornton,begin,paille

honestly those three do nothing…yes paille nad begin do a good job killing penalties, but i think we can live without them!!

satan i would only keep for shootout purposes until the end of the season, then i would dump his ass and his cup ring!!

    • pearson says:

i think marchand has looked -decent- because teams dont really know what to expect from the guy. hes little, but he hits, he is one of few bruins who deke, hes fast, and he plays likes hes trying to keep a spot there (and he is)

you gotta keep this type of guy up here.
i really like the marchand-sobs-lucic line, and it really seems to be working for looch.

i do want to keep paille. he doesnt score, but thats not why hes on the team. same as thornton. but you all are right… i dont understand why begin has made it a full season

  18. mook says:

    i like begin!

    how about:
    marchand – begin – lucic

marchand can shoot, he played a good game.

i didn’t include sobotka cause he should be on a higher line…

  19. Bruins4life 13 says:

this season is down the shitter. even if we make the playoffs we will get killed in the first round so i say just build towards next year with the biggest improvement being tyler seguin joining our roster on a line with sturm and bergeron i can see us also singing a mike peca TYPE player and maybe another d-man also possibly a replacement for micheal ryder.

  20. Bruins says:

My rankings for the upcoming draft not taking into account positional needs (you should always take the best player anyways):

    1. LW – Taylor Hall AND C – Tyler Seguin

    – I honestly can’t decide. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, and when adding them all up, I simply can’t come to a conclusion. Safe to say, I’d be happy with either one, so much so that I would prefer getting the 2nd overall pick over 1st overall so that player would have more to prove and not have as much pressure on him. Only a drastic difference between the two in the playoffs could alter my decision.

    3. D – Cam Fowler

    – This is the type of guy that can create offense from the back-end. If we get him, Wideman and/or Hunwick will be gone, as Fowler is a great puck-mover.

    4. D – Erik Gudbranson

    – I’m a huge fan of this guy. He’s just a great solid defenseman. He can provide some offense too.

    5. D – Brandon Gormley

    – Another offensive defenseman that could get things going from the back-end for the Bruins. I thought he should have been taken as the 7th defenseman for the WJC Canadian team.

I also see three big wildcards in this draft that could challenge this group of 5 (no higher than 4th though), but have too many questions surrounding them for me to put them in there.

    LW – Kirill Kabanov

    – Before the season started, I had him at no. 4 overall and thought he would really push Fowler for number 3, and maybe even break up the top 2. He went down early in the season with an injury and only got back late in the season. He’s unquestionably very talented though and will get a chance to improve his draft stock in the playoffs on a very strong Moncton team.

    F – Vladimir Tarasenko

    – The Russian factor is the biggest setback. While he does play against better competition than anyone in the draft, the prospect of a Russian already playing in the KHL doesn’t bode well for an NHL team drafting him. He’s also shown to be somewhat inconsistent.

    RW – Brett Connolly

    – Similar to Kabanov, Connolly went down early in the season and only recently came back. He has looked great in the few games he’s been back, but not being able to showcase his talent in the playoffs is unfortunate.

  21. G cole says:

Wow almost a 2 min 5v3, then another call and they can’t do a fucking thing… Pathetic

  22. BearsBB says:

i dont think they know what the slot is…every power play they have they always just use the boards it drives me nuts.

    • BearsBB says:

they arent creative at all…i guess that’s julien’s style

    • mook says:

that’s how u play hockey, dumbass…use the boards to cycle until an opportunity comes to either a. hit someone in the slot or b. shoot through a screen or c. a small give-and-go

i think carolina is doing that thing…you know…defense.

    • BearsBB says:

ok tough guy, i was just saying it ain’t working…somebody fell off the same tree as Julien…not too mention that system got them 3 shots on 4 powerplays

      • BearsBB says:

i think boston is doing that thing…you know…sucking on the powerplay because they are not creative

  23. mook says:

penalty killers give our forwards no respect…julien better change our pp!

  24. mook says:

put me on the fucken pp….i’ll shoot

  25. BearsBB says:

this team passes way too much…you think being the worst offense in the league they would make an effort to shoot more..and if chara does another wrister when he has the hardest slapshot in the league im going to throw my remote through the tv….perfect example of passing too much, 2 on 1 and krejci looked to pass 5 feet in front of the net

    • G cole says:

I know right he uses weak slappers and wristshots.. For gods sake he has the hardest slapshot ever! USE IT!!!

  26. mook says:

it’s because they’re not giving space…no respect. our forwards need to be deeper down the boards and spread-out the D…make some quick passes and collapse as the shot comes thru. they’re not even close…way too slow.

  27. mook says:

    wideman off the ice…now please.

  28. mook says:

first time i’m also rooting for the habs! they’re up 1-0, btw.

  29. mook says:

    and the wheels come off…

  30. G cole says:

$5 says they allow a goal in the third period

  31. Richardo says:

Does wideman just close his eyes when he shoots…. I mean comeon…. He needs to step it up alittle so he’s worth something in the offseaon!!!! Jeeez

  32. Bruins says:

On the plus side how about Boychuk showing us some of his speed!

  33. G cole says:

Hey Ryder finally did something! Yaay!

  34. G cole says:

Shit when’s the last time this team had five goals?! It’s a miracle or something

  35. G cole says:

Jesus Christ now bergerons hurt again! WTF

    • Deflated Boner says:

wtf is stuart doing playing like its the last 2 mins of the stanley cup final? fucking hardest fucking shot of his career right into bergeron fucking idiot.

  36. Deflated Boner says:

    3 fucking goals up

  37. ELWOPPO says:

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Another injury to one of our star players!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha WHAT A FUCKING JOKE THIS SEASON HAS BEEN HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA I GOTTA LAUGH ITS KINNDA FUNNY NOW! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. Bruins says:

well you cant expect the hockey gods to give us 5 goals and not injure one of our stars. that would be way too much to ask for…

  39. Bruins says:

so if bergeron is out that means we’ll have krejci-sobotka-begin up the middle. i say throw hamill in there to see what he can do. we’re runnimng out of centers despite being one of, if not the deepest team in the league when it comes to centers. unreal…

  40. Boston2213 says:

    bring up mcquaid for thursday

  41. jimmy50 says:

Big win against a team we should beat. Nothing more. Time to beat teams ahead of us in the standings. My guess it was a stinger for Bergeron and he will be playing against Pitt.

  42. ELWOPPO says:

    X-rays negative on Bergeron’s knee
    As per the globe….Stay tuned!

  43. Bruins says:

with rask’s solid game and both miller and vokoun blowing it tonight, miller is just ahead of rask in save percentage although both have .929, and vokoun is now in third with a .928. rask is first in GAA.

  44. BearsBB says:

can you believe colin “flip a coin” campbell is going to be in boston tomorrow?? reportedly, he is going to be on the bruins pregame show and during the first intermission!!! Heard through the grapevine that he is going to speak to the team before the game…if I were the Bruins players, chiarelli, or julien I wouldn’t let that moron come anywhere near their locker room.

  45. backbruin says:

Wheeler has been the best player on the ice the last two games…speed aggressive and puck possesion!!

keep it up wheels!”i guss bergy has been good too”

  46. MC Puck says:

per TSN, Julien said Bergeron is fine, just a bruise.

    • #4 says:

I was at fridays I didnt see it happend I thought he like got leg checked or something. Then I saw the replay and went “Just a fuckin stingah” Looked like it hurt like a biatch though. We got to see Bergys about to cry face aahha

  47. G cole says:

Fucking Colin Campbell is gonna be at the game?! Who does he think he is, go fuck yourself! Don’t want you in Boston! Maybe he’ll be wearing his matt Cooke jersey?

    • mook says:

      hahahah awesome.

    • #4 says:

Maybe he’ll be bringing this with him to try and explain to the bruins fans inbetween periods.

I will put this out there right now $20 to whoever gets him good. Im talking a beer dousing or him wearing a hotdog with all the toppings ahahah. Get a pic post it and ill mail you $20!!

  48. patrick says:

G Cole your wrong. every NHL brass has a cindy crosby jersey, bobblehead, and used jockstrap. id think youd know better brother.later boys i gotta go drinking. i work xmas morning every year just to ensure i get my st pattys off every year. yeah i know im late but the boys wanted to sleep in this year. booooooo. beer, beer, beer, beer, gimme a beer, beer, beer, beer!!!

  49. Pearson says:

I just met a guy and somehow started tAlking hockey with him. Turns out he was lee stepniaks dad. This shit only happens to me when im drinking… God bless st pattys day.

  50. Richardo says:

haha… Colins going to be on with Milbury on NESN pregame and 1st intermission… F’in commy…

    • BearsBB says:

hope millbury tells him he sucks as a disciplinarian and then sucker punch him in the face.

      • JRy says:

haha i wish that was more likely to happen. I really hope Millbury keeps questioning him and eventually tells him hes an idiot. I wanna see Campbell’s face as he is embarrasing in front of all of New England.

  51. ELWOPPO says:

have been in multiple arguements with Leaf fans over the draft this summer! They are convinced that we are not getting a top 2 pick, I of course disagreed! What do you guys think?
Carolina is only 4 points up!!! Scary!

    • Gcole says:

well besides the bruins game, carolina has been doing good. pretty sure edmonton is rock bottom, theyve got 9 point on the leafs lol.. either way top 3.

    • MC Puck says:

It doesn’t matter if Toronto wins a few games here or there, they won’t climb high enough to ensure we won’t have a shot at #1. It’s so easy to say “They’re only 4 points back” but that’s the team in front of them and that’s assuming Toronto wins that many more games than the teams in front of them. Not gonna happen lol.

  52. Bruins says:

With Colin Campbell there tomorrow anyone going to the game has to make it their duty to start up a chant of “Campbell Sucks!”

Also, throw in chants of “Savvy” and some sort of death threat to Cooke. I think this needs to be bigger than booing Cooke every time he touches the puck.

  53. mook says:

anyone remember the sign a fan brought back during neely days that said “kill ulf”? same message applies here…

  54. willisss says:

top 5 worst hangovers of my life

  55. jimmy50 says:

We should trade for A. Ward and Bitz to one-day contracts for tonight’s game and make this a playoff intensity, hard-hitting affair.

    • #4 says:

Really I dont recall either of them being extremely tough.

How about Ivanans and Peros ahahah thatd scare the fucking shit out of any team. Ivanans-Perros-Lucic with Chara-Boychuck playing D.

Boychuck can fight ive seen some great videos, but IDK how hed handle it with that healing Eye Orbital socket.

  56. G cole says:

Well they better not disappoint me tonight I bailed out on volunteer work and class tonight to watch this game!

  57. patrick says:

im so fucking pissed. i cant watch the game on nhl network cause of where i live in PA. i have to watch the game on fucking fox sports shittsburgh. their gamecasters are fucking biased retards. i want a win first and foremost before anything else.

  58. Loooch says:

Hey boys, anybody know how to watch the game tonight online?

    • #4 says:

      Step one: Buy Beer
Step Two: Check TV Cables/Power on television.
Step Three: Begin drinking your beer.
Step four: Tune TV/Cable Box to NESN/NHL NETWORK, or local equivlent to where you live.
Step 5: Sit back drink the rest of your beer and chant Go B’s Go with or without people that may or may not be watching the game with you.

    • #4 says:

      • Loooch says:

haha, that’s better. I’m thinking either #4 is still hurting from st. pattys or already well on his way past “step three”. Didnt know i could watch on nhl.com. Thanks bud.
