Stuart has surgery; Out for remainder of season

Mark Stuart had surgery due to cellutitis on his finger. Stuart will miss the remainder of the season but if the Bruins make the playoffs he is expected to be able to play at some point. With Stuart and Dennis Seidenberg suffering from injuries, Adam McQuaid has been recalled from the Providence Bruins and will be available tonight.

Story of our season. I know the team doesn’t want to make excuses but this season’s injuries woes are just too much to overcome.

  2. G cole says:

That was not a fucking goal!

  3. backbruin says:

well it’s a goal and guess who’s fkn fault it was!!!!!

he left the center of the ice for no particular reason!!!

i may not watch another game if he’s in the lineup and i haven’t missed 3 games in 5 years!!!

i have never felt such distain for any player in my life!!!

  4. mattg says:

awful, old bill makes a bad call on the ice and they cant overturn it

  5. backbruin says:

off with his head i say!! what the fk is he doing…where are his fundamentals??? how is he and how did he get to the nhl…oh wait he played junior in my city..London!!!

    my fkn god!!!

  6. mattg says:

    ryder misses three open nets!

  7. backbruin says:

    Oh my god Ryder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. G cole says:

RYDER WHAT THE FUCK!! How much better of a chance do you need to score a fucking goal you 4 million dollar turd

  9. backbruin says:

a tyke would have held the puck 1 second longer and buried it!!! he’s awful!!

  10. backbruin says:

we need to pick up are phisicality and we can hurt them in their own end…cmon boys!

  11. G cole says:

Man the bruins seem to make every goalie they face look like he’s the best goalie in the world!

  12. backbruin says:

yaaaaaaaaa. great faceoff bergy and nice pass charsie…and oh ya nice shot dennis!

  13. Bruins says:

that was huuuuuuuuuuuge. can’t screw us over on that one mcreary!

that was wideman’s best period of the year

    • backbruin says:

well i wouldn’t go that far, look at the replay on wash’s goal and you will see wideman over commit to the puck carrier which left the guy wide open!!but i will give him the benefit of the doubt after making it even!

  14. backbruin says:

the caps are beatable let’s get this straight…you see when we get our legs going they are stifled!!!

  15. Birdman2403 says:

Nice goal by Wideman….he only owes the team about 15 more to even out the ones he’s cost them !

RYDER just please take your shit off and sit in the stands. You son, ARE AWFUL !

  16. backbruin says:

and the overhead showed that wasn’t a goal whatsoever….i don’t think half the puck even crossed!!!

  17. Pearson says:

Yea i think wideman looked good. Im glad he scored that because if he didnt show up on the score sheet people would keeeep bashin him.

Im tired of people getting on widemans ass… the offense doesnt score and ryder just missed 3 open nets, sturm got a sudo-break and ripped yet another 20 foot wrister.

T d isnt the problem. Esp with tuuk back there.

    • backbruin says:

Pearson please, how can you be tired of anyone getting on wideman’s ass…..are you kidding me???

how can you say that unless your related!!!

the guy has been downright awful and it’s not debatable!!!

they just stated on tsn that it wasn’t a goal.

tired of people getting on Wideman..bahahahahahahahahahahahahah

      • pearson says:

        i am not “related.”

hes having a bad year. but your saying the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over. tell me something new?

hunwick has the same amount of games played and has a lower +/- and fewer points.

for a wider perspective lets list a couple defensemen who have a lower +/-

        Tomas Kaberle
        Sheldon Souray
        Jack Johnson
        Brendon Witt
        Aaron Ward

my point is simple. we all know hes struggling, but stop blaming wideman aaaaall the time and acting like we jsut figured out hes slumping.

      • Birdman2403 says:

Your right, Wideman is fine….for a 6th D-man ! He plays the first 1:30 of every PP…fucks that up and we get Chara for 25 seconds ! Don’t compare Hunwick when he plays 10 minutes a game and Wideman 25 for some unknown reason !

      • mcpuck says:

I hate to say it, but you’re going to keep hearing it over and over and over because he keeps blowing plays over and over and over. It’d be one thing if we got on his ass when the other team didn’t capitalize so often on his mistakes, but the fact is that they do. We’ve lost a ton of points because of his inability to do the simple things that he did all last year.

As fans, we have every right to voice our opinion, regardless of who or why.

      • backbruin says:

Obviously Pearson your the head of the Dennis Widemen fan club, but what the hell are you watching every night! You just prove my point when you say i keep saying the same shit over and over because you bumbling fool he makes the same fkn mistakes game in and game out!!!

honestly man, do you think i take pleasure in this? Do you not think i would rather say how well he plays and that he’s rarely on the ice for any big goals scored against us?

What is it that you want me to say Pearson? I’m a fan who is frustrated and I’m on a bruins friendly site where most state their opinions good or bad!

get over yourself and join reality kid!

  18. backbruin says:

Why can’t they install a camera inside the crossbar???? or a three pronged camera to catch everything??? am i on to something or is the reat of the world dumb???

  19. backbruin says:

Wideman was one of my fav’s and this year has played like a complete clown…i hope he proves me wrong but his leash is as short as a leash gets!!!

  20. mattg says:

semin dives to get a call, then cuts chara’s face open, and no call

  21. backbruin says:

well mcreary could see a hair but misses a high stick that bloodies chara!!!typical bruins ref job!!

  22. G cole says:

How can you not call that high stick?? Such bullshit… This teams fucking cursed I swear.

  23. Bruins says:

Mcreary with x-ray vision on the caps “goal”, but goes blind when the tallest player of all time gets high sticked.

Reffing has reached a new low

  24. Bruins says:

BERGERON!!! Wwhoe else? Wideman with another great play too!

  25. backbruin says:

wow sturm oh my nice pass recch to looch and great FINISH….DID I DARE SAY FINISH,,,,,BERGY!!!

  26. backbruin says:

  27. G cole says:

So you’re telling me the refs didn’t see poti trip krejci?! What the hell is this bullshit!!

  28. ELWOPPO says:

For fuck sakes! U cant hold these fuckers off for 29 seconds? Fuck off! 2 Shit goals by Wash.
Tuukka Come On! Dont shit the bed now….We need you!

  29. pearson says:

i think if we played these guys first round… we could beat em in 6

  30. Bzibziak says:

The team is shwoing fight tonight and deserves credit. they could easily mail it in this year with all the key injuries, so let’s give them some credit. And let’s also please stayoff Wideman. He is having a difficult year this season, but who else hasn’t? Its not all his fault. He needs confidence and right now he cant with all the fans calling for his head. Please lay off him. He is our number 2 guy on defense.

    Lets go Rask!!

  31. G cole says:

They called a penalty on wash!? What’s wrong with them?

  32. G cole says:

Christ they should have scored ten times with the chances they keep fucking up, well they made it to OT, 1 point! Now let’s see what they got

  33. backbruin says:

We outplayed these guys tonight…both of their goals wer garbage none of which tuuka’s faukt Elwoppo…have you watched this guy over the last 5 games…come on dude…shit the bed????

we showed without are best off guy and 2nd and 3rd def men that we can hang!!!
    cmon boys let’s get 2!!!

    oh fk pen in ot!!!

well we got one and that’s big!!!

    you never no!

    • ELWOPPO says:

Backbruin dont start with me 2nite im not in the mood! All im saying is that Rask let in 2 softies 2nite, It doesnt mean he’s hasnt been spectacular all season or that i dont like him! I just feel that he could have prevented at LEAST the first one?

    • ELWOPPO says:

      I like that!
Ur tuff i gotta admit it!

wideman cost us the game again FUCKING CHRIST

  35. backbruin says:

unreal they make that call in ot!!hahahahah joke!

  36. G cole says:

Fuck you referee where were you on the high stick on chara! Not that it’s the excuse but these refs sure sucked balls tonight

  37. Birdman2403 says:

I HATE THAT PIECE OF SHIT WIDEMAN !!!!! Of all our D hurt and he’s not 1 of them.

    FUCK YOU WIDEMAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. Bruins says:

High stick call ruins the game? How perfect. Good miss on the chara call you fucking cunts

and i belive wideman was on the ice for the other two goals awesome.

  40. mattg says:

some bad calls and bounces, but man its shows we can run with the big boys, hopefully we make the playoffs and can show the league how we can play with a full team

  41. Bruins says:

Honestly the Mcreary goal-call is ridiculous. How the fuck did he see that go in? From the replay it was as close as can be with no conclusive evidence to see that it went over the line, yet they couldn’t overturn it because of the call on the ice. why is that fat fuck pointing his arm to the net that fast?

    • BearsBB says:

unfortunate situation…one view looked like it was in, but it was also on an edge and the puck never cleared…and then the overhead view you can’t see any white.

  42. ELWOPPO says:

Its ok. I dint expect the Bruins to make it into OT 2nite! So im relativly happy! Were still ok. Dont kid yourself that Extra point was Huge 2nite!!! But if you wanna get teqnical we could have won that game tonight with some luck and without MISSED CALLS REF!!!!FUCK!!

  43. John says:

Missed high ,stick puck never crossed, the injuries are out of this world
the open nets missed is unbelievable
the hockey god are not on our sides bottom line

  44. BearsBB says:

i think michael ryder has forgotten how to roof a shot, and also doesn’t know a slapshot, he always does that curling wristshot

    • #4 says:

NO hes has hockey-amnesia, he needs a break. Seriously the minors or europe or something would probably rejuvenate the guy but he needs to get his grove back. Its gone and hes not getting it back in the high pressure NHL…

Maybe start him in Provy next year(if thats possible dont rip me if it isnt)

      • Bruins says:

Yeah it’s an option. If they were to send him to Providence at the start of the year he’d have to clear waivers. If someone picks him up, even better. The Bruins would be off the hook.

If he’s called up at any point during the season, he’d have to go through re-entry waivers. If someone claims him then, the Bruins would be responsible for paying 50% of his remaining salary.

      • Birdman2403 says:

DO IT DO IT DO IT

  45. Jefe77 says:

    Give Colborne a shot

    • Bruins says:

noooooo. He’s a long-term prospect. No need to rush him in and ruin hisconfidence if he’s really out of place, especially with this much on the line for the bruins.

and besides, the team looked great. bad bounces and awful reffing. they can’t control that.

  46. Bruins says:

Chara with a broken nose from the Semin high stick. Worthy of a penalty? Nahhh. It’s crazy what the Caps can get away with because of the league’s hard-on for Ovechkin.

At least Chara isn’t expected to miss time, but that’s still Chara, Seidenberg, Stuart and Ference with injury problems, arguably our top 4 defensemen.

  47. #4 says:

Its just fucking ridiculous to be honest.

B’s Aquire Siedenberg he comes in and instantly gels with chara. Well WOULDNT YOU FUCKING KNOW IT Seiedenberg nearly loses his hand and Chara gets a broken nose on a non-call from the capitals.

Stuart discovers Cellulitus on his finger and is done for the next 3-4…. When do the bruins get a fucking break here. Why wasnt a penalty called, YET THE REF WAS SO FUCKING SURE THAT WAS A GOAL…. God I was calm last night today I feel like smashing shit. Maybe its the day im having but WTF.

Sometimes it just seems like the Its the Refs/League, Other Team, and Luck VS the Bruins every goddamn night.

Hopefully Seguin shows up next year scores 20 Goals in the first 20 games and the league gets all over Boston’s shit and I can stop bitching about this type of stuff, but something tells me not to get my hopes up.

    • ELWOPPO says:

I feel ur pain #4 this is Fucking ridiculas now!! If you told me all this shit would have happened at the start of the season i would have laughed at you!!! But it did! Fucking Bullshit! But dont worry i got a feeling were getting Hall in the draft!!! Edmonton is on record saying that they would go with seguin if they had their choice, Because they Need a Centerman! Seguin would also look good in a Bruins Jersey next year, So either way were Good!!!

  48. mook says:

signing wideman to a 3.875mil contract is not all chiarelli’s fault. i think the negotiation went something like this:

chiarelli: “yeah, we’re preprared to pay dennis 2mil for the next 3 seasons”

wideman agent: “um, leafs just signed some guy named jeff finger for 3.5mil, 4 years.”

    chiarelli: “fuck.”

    • #4 says:

Are you suer PC wasnt just drunk running around with fistfulls of 4mil contracts and Ryder/Wideman just managed to grab one out of his hands??

    • Bruins says:

I thought Wideman’s contract was good value when he signed it, and he more than lived up to it last year. No one could have predicted what happened this year.

  49. Birdman2403 says:

Tonight will be good to us ! Toronto will beat Philly, Buff over Rangers and the Islanders will beat the Habs. As the capper…NJ over Thrashers !

    • #4 says:

I just want TB to win out the rest of there games then Tor can do w/e they want idc

      • Birdman2403 says:

TB and FLA finish home and home I think. So a nice split there and pick secured !

    • Bruins says:

Honestly, the playoffs are looking good right now unless something drastic happens.

The Thrashers don’t look like they’ll catch us, and even if they do tie us in points and wins, we have the tie-breaker.

The Rangers and Flyers finish the season with a back-to-back against each other so you’d have to think that one of those two would be eliminated.

  50. ELWOPPO says:

Guys, u all make valuable points! But keep in mind if Rangers happen to beat those stupid Sabres tonite, Were fucked! Rangers play the following day with the Leafs and you KNOW thier gonna win that game with a chance to jump Boston in the standings! That would mean we would HAVE to beat Buffalo on Thurs!

    • Bruins says:

We actually wouldn’t be fucked. We’re not only battling the Rangers here. If the Rangers make it in, it will probably be at the expense of the Flyers because of their bac-to-back games at the end of the season. Obviously if we bomb our games, it will be bad, but with just a decent finish we should be in.

  51. backbruin says:

Well we can’t expect all these teams to lose the rest of their games man! We need to take care of our own business or we don’t belong there. We need points out of buffalo and Carolina simple as that, who cares what the rest do right now….We beat buffalo and are chances go up exponentially! We beat Carolina and were in no matter what!!

“If the Rangers win tonight were fucked”? come on man keep the faith!! enough worrying about what everyone else does….you think the bruins are watching that game together tonight and saying, “well boys if the rangers win tonight were still a point ahead but hey WERE FUCKED”.

COME ON MY MAN positive energy the boys have been playing well!

  52. Bruins says:

    For the playoff race:

In order for Boston to earn a higher seed than Atanta, any combination of Boston wins and Atlanta losses would have to add up to 1. That means any Boston win or Atlanta loss would eliminate Atlanta from finishing ahead of us.

That leaves us with MTL, PHI and NYR. Let’s assume the worst case scenario of MTL beating NYI tonight, NYR beating BUF tonight, PHI beating Toronto, and the NYR winning their 80th game of the season too. That would leave both PHI and NYR with 86 points going into their head-to-head, and MTL with 88 points.

Now, let’s look at the possible situations, and what the B’s would need to do to clinch a playoff spot for each one(keep in mind that any of these combinations could also see the Bruins make the playoffs if the number of Boston wins and Montreal losses equals 4 with the 3 remaining Bruins games and 2 MTL games left):

Either team takes both games in regulation: Boston needs 2 points in their last 3 games.

Either team takes both games in OT: Boston needs 4 points in their last 3 games.

Either team takes one in regulation and the other in OT: Boston needs 3 points in their last 2 games.

Both split the games in regulation: Boston needs 4 points in their last 3 games.

Both split the games in overtime: Boston needs 5 points in 3 games.

Either team takes one game in regulation, and loses the other in overtime: Boston needs 4 points in 3 games.

And keep in mind that this is the absolute WORST CASE SCENARIO of how the games play out before the NYR/PHI back-to-back.

  53. backbruin says:

Well Atlanta lost which crushes their dreams.

Rangers lost which is massive to us and makes them have to pretty much run the board!

the gay habs are in a shootout and don’t count 6th out if they don’t get 2

And the flyers won and they only have 2 left with the rangers!!!

overall A- on the night and i’m happy with what’s taken place!

  54. backbruin says:

habs lose in a SO mmmmmm

  55. Bruins says:

Well that write-up was useless lol. Here’s how everything stands now:

    Atlanta can’t catch us.

If NYR win against Carolina, going into their back-to-back with PHI, if:

NYR wins both in regulation: 2 points in 3 games
NYR wins both in OT: 4 points in 3 games
PHI wins both in regulation: CLINCHED
PHI wins both in OT: 2 points in 3 games
Split, both in regulation: 2 points in 3 games
Split, both in OT: 3 points in 3 games
Split, PHI wins in regulation, NYR in OT: 2 points in 3 games
Split, NYR in regulation, PHI in OT: 3 points in 3 games

If NYR lose in OT to CAR:

NYR wins both in regulation: 2 points in 3 games
NYR wins both in OT: 3 points in 3 games
PHI wins both in regulation: CLINCHED
PHI wins both in OT: 1 point in 3 games
Split, both in regulation: 1 point in 3 games
Split, both in OT: 2 points in 3 games
Split, PHI wins in regulation, NYR in OT: 1 point in 3 games
Split, NYR in regulation, PHI in OT: 2 points in 3 games

NYR lose to CAR in regulation:

NYR win both games in either regulation or OT: 2 points in 3 games
NYR win one game and lose other in OT: 1 point in 3 games
    Anything else: CLINCHED

For the Toronto pick, 2 FLA points in 3 games clinches a bottom 3 finish for Toronto, even if Toronto finishes 2-0.

One Tampa win and/or 3 points in the remaining 3 games clinches a bottom 3 finish for Toronto even if Toronto finishes 2-0.

Both would clinch a bottom 2 finish.

All that being said, because TBL and FLA close the season against each other, a bottom 3 finish has already been secured!

The worst possible scenario of TOR finishing 2-0, and FLA and TBL losing their game 80, TOR would still finish 2nd last if both games split in regulation or OT, or TBL won one in regulation and lost in OT.

    • Bruins says:

ALSO for the playoff race, if BOS wins and MTL losses add up to 3.5 (3 games for BOS, 2 for MTL) we clinch.

    • G cole says:

You said a bottom three pick is secured
for Toronto? Nice but we need the #2!

      • Bruins says:

No not yet, a bottom 3 finish is secured, but there’s still a possibility to go down to draft 4th overall.

Should Toronto finish 3rd last (still more likely for TOR to finish second last), there would be the following odds:

        1st overall pick: 14.2%
        3rd overall pick: 56.1%
        4th overall pick: 29.7%

        Should Toronto finish 2nd last:

        1st overall pick: 18.8%
        2nd overall pick: 42%
        3rd overall pick: 39.2%

      • G cole says:

That’s pretty stupid, why not just have it 30th, 29th, 28th= 1st, 2nd, 3rd… Instead of chance bullshit where you can get fucked out of a top pick

  56. Habhater says:

Quite simply, the Bruins magic # for clinching a playoff spot is 4. Any combination of Bruins wins, O/T or S/O losses and NYR losses totaling 4 points and we are in.

I would be absolutely over the moon if the following were to take place –

    – the Bruins win 2 out of their remaining 3 games giving them 89 points.

    – the NYR beat the Leafs on Wednesday, and beat PHI twice on the weekend in O/T. This would give both the NYR and PHI 88 points, and the clincher –

    – the Habs lose both their remaining games against the Hurricanes and the Leafs. The Canadiens would then finish with 87 points and out of the playoffs.

The Habs struggle with the Canes and you know that the Leafs would have a hard on to beat the Habs in the last game of the season if it meant the Habs would be eliminated.

  57. BearsBB says:

  58. Habhater says:

Well with Seids, Stuey and Savvy all out for the year, the Bruins will just have to do what they have been doing all year anyway – sucking it up and playing the game.

It has been an amazingly tormenting year with the injuries and the fact that we all know that we are a better team than our record shows. The injuries have taken a significant toll on our record and in spite of the lost man-games, the Bruins continue to play hard and fight for a playoff spot. Damn, I am so proud of the way they are playing right now.

We all have had our rants about the Bruins play this season and I guess to an extent, this is what this forum is for. Like I stated above, the injuries have exacted a great toll and looking back on the season, perhaps our current record is all that we can and should expect.

When everyone is healthy and plays hard for one another and are on the same page, this team is far and away the best. Whatever happens in last 3 games of the season and the playoffs, I find comfort in the fact that the Bruins will compete to the best of their ability and leave it all on the ice.

I believe that the Bruins can do significant damage to some teams in first round of the playoffs, WAS, PIT and BUF, especially. Unfortunately after that it then comes down to a battle of attrition and with the way things are going this year, the Bruins will be detrimentaly impacted.

Next year however, assuming that the Bruins stay relatively injury-free, and with the addition of Hall/Sequin and a proven sniper, the Bruins will be the dominat team and the one to beat for the Cup!!
