Boychuk hopes to return next weekend

According to, Johnny Boychuk hopes to return to the Bruins lineup as early as next weekend against the Los Angeles Kings. Boychuk broke his forearm when he was slashed by Brandon Dubinksy of the New York Rangers. With Boychuk’s return, expect Adam McQuaid to be back on the bench. McQuaid has played well in his brief stint thus far. He adds a physical game to the back pairing but its hard to see him beating out Matt Hunwick for the final defense spot.

I hope McQuaid gets a shot at staying. His consistant physical play should get the nod over Hunwick. Not only will this instill confidence in McQuaid but it will light a fire under Hunwicks ass and give the B’s the extra toughness as McQuaid seems to be throwing down a lot lately…..& Boychuk back is a very good thing!

  2. mook says:

? hunwick has been playing well.

you know, i’m sure that a lot of guys on here are so used to complaining about the same guys, they don’t even give the players a chance.

  3. Birdman2403 says:

I agree that McQuaid should stay over Hunwick. Hunwick is a defensive winger really. He is not very physical and can’t accomplish much on P.P. I thought he played his best last year in spot duty on the wing.

Move Hunwick to wing and scratch Wheeler !

  4. jmed says:

Ive been saying this since the pre-season Mcquaid is the real deal. Hes like all the rest of the Dee he looks like shit when hes paired with Ference.

Unfortunately I think hes going to be the 7th defense-man for a couple weeks. It might pressure the seasoned players to step it up, they all have talent.

  5. backbruin says:

hey could have made it better but!!

  6. mook says:

you guys are nuts if you think mcquiad is more reliable than hunwick. mcquiad looks very green…and he’s missing assignments. i guess a couple fights is enough to convince you!

hunwick is playing well. ference is playing well. last game, ryder looked tired and so did seidenberg.

c’mon boys…watch the game with a fresh mind…sounds like a broken record now.

  7. Manitoba Fan says:

I also do believe that hunwick and ference have improved their games since the start of the season. Saying that I also really like mcquaid’s play and the physical aspect he brings. My personal opion is that hunwick is a better all round defense man and i dont mean WAY better but all round better; skating , passing, shooting. But it is nice to have a guy like mcquaid step in when guys go down to injury.

  8. Bruins says:

Chara’s a fucking idiot. Chara for Neil is a fair trade-off…

  9. says:

does anyone have a stream for tonights game that works in the US

  10. Bruins says:

Anyone else want to see McQuaid in for Stuart? He’s been fully responsible for alot of goals on us this season, including the one tonight.

  11. Bruins says:

These slow starts are getting really old. Another first period that we got absolutely dominated in.

  12. mook says:

    stuart is constantly screening thomas.

one thing i noticed about seguin is he does not like to help-out the defensemen down low. someone better show him some footage after, because it’s costing him minutes!

    • Bruins says:

Meh I actually notice him supporting the defense quite a bit.

    • Ward says:

      • Bruins says:

Take a look at alot of the goals that have been scored on us this year. Alot are competely his fault. I’ve never seen someone score on his own net as much as he does. He’s havin a rouh year to say the least.

I’m one of the biggest Hunwick haters you’ll find but he’s been pretty decent lately.

  13. Bruins says:

Oh and Wheeler is a hack. He needs to go as soon as possible.

  14. moast says:

Hunwick is absolutely Brutal! There is nothing positive that he does on the ice. Fucking right I’d have McQuaid over the useless Hunwick.
Hunwick, Wheeler and Paille need to go. This gamie is so embarasing and painful to watch. Poor bastards that paid to watch this.

    • Birdman2403 says:

Couldnt agree more ! We miss Savard and Krejci big time !! Why is it that it is always the star Bruins that get hurt ?? Why not Wheeler or Hunwick ??? I guess you have to get involved to get hurt !

  15. Bruins says:

Goddamn it this team sucks without Krejci. Bergeron and the 4th line are the only ones who showed up tonight besides Thomas.

    • moast says:

It really is scary knowing that this team shits the bed when Krejci goes down. I know when they get Savard, Krejci, Sturm and Boychuk back they will be good as it will hopefully mean that Wheeler, Paille and Hunwick are gone. Boston is a good defensive team under Julien, Now imagine they had a great dedense, theyd be great.
Did anyone see Lucic or Horton?

  16. Gcole says:

Dam they got shutout? I went outside drinking after the first. What the hell. I can’t really talk shit as I’m happy and drinking and don’t really care. Too bad though.

  17. zamer says:

the bruins suck shit in defending the puck in there own zone.

  18. willisss says:

    A. World without krejci is a world I don’t want to live in

  19. Ward says:

    tank the season yet?

  20. Dookie says:

Without Krecji & Savard the Bruins revert to last year’s team – no offense and no heart. It’s sad when one of your offensive weapons is Wheeler. Hit the net for crisakes, but it’s Wheels, so I don’t expect much more than what he did tonight which was zero. When Savvy, Krecji & Boychuk return, PC should ship out Wheeler, Hunwick & Paille for sure. Hell I even consider Ryder despite his improved play this year. We don’t need a complete overhaul, just a tune-up and it should start with getting rid of the dead wood.

I don’t particulary like all the negetive comments on this site, but there comes a time when you have to vent your utter dissatisfaction and frustration with the effort from some of our players.

  21. Gcole says:

whats with the injury shit now again this year. god dam its like every week someone important goes down. its never fucking hunwick, ference, wheeler, paille, and fourth liner, or anything its always a top one…

    • Bruins says:

A fourth liner going down might be devastating with how they’re playing. It was cool to see them doing so well at the start but now it’s getting sad that they’re our best line.

      • #4 says:

fucking agreed why is Brad Marchand a better puck handler than all the other forwars except bergeron….

Thank god I got layed 2x last night and watched the game this morning or I would’ve been ripshit about that loss.

  22. zamer says:

theres players on this team that just show up to play wiht no fucking balls.providence has players that have balls and deserve a chance to show some million dollar fucks what it means to play to win.wheeler, paille, hunwick, have no balls when it comes to playing tough.

  23. Gcole says:

Wow so they’re breaking up the fourth line?! The line that’s been AWESOME????? fuck me!

    • Bruins says:

Were’d you hear that? Only way this could be a positive is if Marchand moves up between Caron and Recchi and Wheeler moves back to wing.

      • Gcole says:

Nesn. Apparently Shawn Thornton practiced on third line and Ryder got bumped to fourth which is fucking stupid

      • Bruins says:

So this means that Julien is playing Seguin with Paille and Thornton? LOL Julien sure knows how to bring up young talent.

  24. moast says:

Doesn’t matter what they do with the line combos. The roster is talentless right now until Krejci and Savvy come back to make the rest of the team look like they have talent. So sad that two players go down and they look like scared kids without there mommy. Ita ll starts on the backend anyway. Until they get rid of the useless fuck Hunwick and get Boychul bach, there fucked. Even when everyone is healthy they still need another top six forward and top 2 PMD. Don’t really give a shit about who disagrees with me, that is waht they need as they are showing it, 4 losses out of 5 games…..are they the leafs?
This is a good defensive team, now imagine if they had two more great defenseman rather than Hunwick and McQuaid/Stuart.

  25. says:

caron has completely disappeared. He is not ready for a full NHL season. This has shown that although Bergeron is very valuable as a 2nd/3rd line center and a great special teams guy, he cant be the #1 center in terms of scoring. Also, i think the reason bruins fans get so upset is not when we dont score, but when we watch a game and the team has no heart and motivation. I am not a fan of Julien’s 1-3-1 forecheck as it eliminates a lot of our skating game. I also question how the team responds to him, and wouldnt mind a coaching change. They have lost 3 straight game 7’s and also blew a 3 game lead last year. The team is never consistent, and players like lucic need a fire lit under them. Remember when he was instigating the fights when he was a rookie, and was an angry motherfucker. i miss that. Chara and recchi dropping the gloves was great, but id like to see a team that consistently hits and stands up for eachother, a true big bad bruins team.

    • Bruins says:

Caron isn’t getting on the scoresheet but he’s still looked good out there most of the time. He’s a top PK forward on one of the best PK teams, is a beast on the boards, and is very reliable.

Lucic doesn’t instigate fights because he’s too valuable to be taken off the ice. Unless he’s fighting a player of equal value )no goons) or the team needs a big spark he should not be fighting. That’s why I thought Chara fighting Neil was retarded. Figures that they’d score when he was in the box. When you’re getting blown out, then by all means those guys should be dropping the gloves, but otherwise, no.

And Bergeron is at about a point a game the last 7 or 8 games and did the same thing when Savard went down last year from the Cooke hit. He started the year slow offensively but is already rounding back to form.

    • Gcole says:

As far as a coaching change I want to say it’s not the coaches fault I’m starting to believe it’s a team leadership issue and chara is not the captain who will bring us to the cup. And trust me I hope I’m wrong he’s my favorite player but i just don’t think he’s the one to do it for them

  26. Manitoba Fan says:

Fuck am I happy i missed yesterdays game. WAs at a buddies place watching the leafs game cause i dont have cbc ontario. Told me he would switch between games but he didnt. So I was happy last night watching the loser leafs lose another one!!!! Horrible game winner giguere gave up. I love it. Hopefully they Are enjoying phill the spill’s services! But on a more serious not we need Krejci back in a bad way. He seems to be the glue that keeps us together. The lines are are alot better with him around. Caron needs Bergeron apparently and wheeler, paille need to be gone. I said it before and i’ll say it again, wheeler is all flash and no finish. He is a bust. Its to bad!!!! GO BRUINS!!!

  27. Bruins says:

Apparently this is legit. Lengthy read but worth it.

  28. #4 says:

Dont woryy Campbel addressed the issue.

Conviently he completely ignored the player he called a Faker “Savard” how that implies a bias that might of effected future decisions IE Cooke and why PC may have wanted to get his son on the Bruins.

Campbell says he was just being a hockey dad. Well you forfiet that right when you accept that position you jack wagon. God im fuming right now.

    • Bruins says:

What a fucking joke. The guy is responsible for disciplining the players and he just fully confirmed that he’s biased.

On the plus side Papa Campbell will see to it that Little Greggy and the B’s don’t get suspended, unless of course you’re that little fake artist Savard. Thumbs up to Chia on getting Campbell, brilliant move.

  29. Gcole says:

Man savard must be a good faker to still be pretending he’s hurt. Go fuck yourself Colin Campbell. On another note I wonder how this will affect gregs relationship with the bruins

  30. says:

anyone have a stream for the game tonight?

  31. Vince Mendella says:

Anyone know where I can watch this online? Is it streaming anywhere?

  32. chitownbruin says: has every game

  33. ELWOPPO says:

tuff goalies we gotta face this week!
First Brodeur, than Lundquist, Voukoun on Thurs, followed by Quick on Sat.
    We see what happens!!!!!!!!

  34. Gcole says:

Only saw the third period but they looked good. Powerplay was 1-SEVEN?? dam they need to do something to get the powerplay as somewhat of a threat

  35. willisss says:

I think stuart read your post mook, he was lights out

  36. pearson says:

seems like everyone posts here when the b’s lay an egg and have a bad game.

well hey, they played awesome today. i seemed to notice ryder more than anyone. the 4th line is continuing its “domination”

i feel as if bergy isnt the right center for horton and lucic. krejci is back soon though so no sweat.

and not to be a negative nancy but some of the penalties that the refs called in the bruins favor were pretty garbage….

oh, and thomas? holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiii i i iiiiiiiiit

  37. mook says:

when did the nhl become the xfl?

i better start paying-attention to khl games…how is dynamo doing?

  38. ELWOPPO says:

Sources say Boychuk may b back on wed, stay tuned!

  39. Haus says:

Haha Maxim Lapierre is the biggest paper tiger in the league. He just asked Darryl Powe to answer for 2 borderline hits and got thoroughly owned.

  40. ELWOPPO says:

Krecji passed his neuro-psych test and has been cleared for contact! Shouldnt b long now Kids! Also Boychuk game time decision for 2nite!!!

  41. Studlycodfish says:

I hope someone gets dummy boy for that slash tonite!!! Just seen on ESPN insider that were having problems trying to make some moves for cap space, really interested to see what happens??? Go Bruins Go!!!!

  42. willisss says:

Way to cover your ass with the campbell comment there jack, hahaaaaa

    • Gcole says:

Yea he was digging himself into a hole there. “some of us have problems with his decisions…but he does throw a mean snowball and is a great guy” haha

  43. Gcole says:

Why do the bruins show more offensive desire SHORTHANDED instead of on a POWERPLAY?? can’t they just pretend they’re shorthanded then?

  44. Bruins says:

I just got a boner from that Seguin goal.

  45. Vince Mendella says:

almost a heart attack with that 5 on 3.

  46. Studlycodfish says:

Bruins win!! But no one went after slash boy kind of disapointed!!

  47. ELWOPPO says:

Thomas came up HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE for us in the third! How cum nobody mentioned him????????????

  48. willisss says:

Does anyone else hate seguin on the 4th line?

    • Bruins says:

What a waste. Having him between Paille and Thornton is a joke. And when he had a great game yesterday julien rewards him with 11 minutes ice time.

  49. seguin>hall says:

The article on espn insider says that a “rival gm” is claiming that “no one wants the first 2 players that the Bruins are offering, but there is interst in a 3rd player.” ESPN speculates that the 2 unwanted players are thomas and ryder, and the one who is wanted is wheeler. I strongly dissagree. If this gm is telling the truth, I bet its ryder and savard who the b’s are offering with no success, and thomas who teams are interested in. Goalies win cups, and who wouldn’t want a SHUT DOWN goalie. Thomas is nasty when healthy. The rumor says the b’s don’t want to part with this “unknown” player. Besides, losing wheelers 2.2 mil doesn’t open enough space for sturm and savard.

  50. Dookie says:

per my math, with Sturm & Savard on LTIR, and the consequent savings of same on the cap, the B’s need only move $2.5M to be compliant. Wheeler ($2.2M) and
Hunwick ($1.4M) or Ferrence ($2.4M) is fine with me. Of course upon their return the Bruins will probably be over the roster limit of 23 – so be it. Non-performing players can then be waived to the minors, i.e., Paille, to be roster compliant. If the right moves are made by PC we will be in a position to make a run at a pmd or even more at the trade deadline while retaining the nucleous of our present team.

  51. Studlycodfish says:

Pearson I think you forgot a couple of i’s in one of your earlier posts as well you dummy get a life !!

  52. Bruins says:

Tuukka Time tonight! Can the B’s do him a favour and actually show up to play in front of him tonight?

  53. willisss says:

Thiink the fans boo wideman? I’ll be alittle upset if they fuck with him tonight, let the guy slide, we got horton

    • Bruins says:

Yeah it’d be stupid, but it’ll happen. What did Wideman ever do to the B’s? 2 great years and then he came around come playoff time last year.

  54. Bruins says:

    Thomas .959 save %
    Rask .939 save %

    I like our goalies.
