According to CSNNE, Marco Sturm has been traded to LA for a conditional 5th round draft pick.

Tyler Seguin is also scratched for tonight’s game because of the flu. Seguin skated this morning and was limited to his lowest ice time total of the season against the Islanders. In Seguin’s absence, the offensively gifted Daniel Paille makes his return to the lineup.

UPDATE: CSNNE is now reporting the deal is for “future considerations”.

Oh well Seguin only misses out on a couple minutes anyways.

Good first period, that one sequence by Thomas was nuts. I REALLY like Kampfer. I’m hoping he stays up with the big club.

  2. ELWOPPO says:

4 seconds left? Are u kidding me! Oh well we get a point and Montreal lost! Now we are 2 points behind them with 2 games in hand for 3rd in the conference! But i still hate losing to those fuckers from Phily!

  3. CCMGoalie says:

Tough loss tonight, but at least we got a point and are going to have our Cap problems squared away.

I think the Sturm trade is the best for him and for the Bruins. He’s going to get to play somewhere, and we don’t lose the lineup we have right now. Unfortunately we aren’t going to get a pick or prospect out of the deal, but we all knew we weren’t ging to get anything major anyway. Sturm gets to continue his career on not just a Western team, but he gets to be on a contending team at that where he will get to provide a lot of experience to the young LA Kings roster. I’m cautiously hopeful that Sturm does well in LA and we get SOMETHING out of this deal, but my hopes aren’t very high for it as I fear he will go down with another major knee injury and will have his career cut short. I hope this feeling is wrong and he does well. I believe that this deal is the best of both worlds for us and for Sturm and as a professional he knows the trade and will have to deal with the effects of the business. Marco: I wish you nothing, but the best in the future and thank you for your efforts for us, The Bruin’s Faithful, here in Boston.

Couple of things about that game.

    1) When the freaking hell are the bruins going to respond to a goddamn cheapshot. This PISSES ME OFF!.. Look its a meaningless december game and I get it if your going score 2-3x on that PP to punish them. But to go 0fer on that PP as well as not respond physically at all is disgraceful.

It shows a lack of heart and/or a lack of ability in CJ to motivate the team or make objective decisions about when to retaliate. It turns the team into a doormat for more of these types of hits.

    2) dont jump all over savard just yet guys. That was a TERRIBLE pass to give the game away but I still think he looked better tonight than has yet this season. Give it time if hes 100% he doesnt make that pass.

    3) Kampfer looked really good skating the puck and on the breakout. I worried about him a bit infront of the net though. Overall I give him a B+ for that game.

Marco, will be missed i will always remember two of his best moments:

Game 6 against montreal sturm scores to make it 5-4 bruins turns out to be the game winner.

Winter Classic against the flyers. Sturm scores the OT winner.

Best of luck in LA Marco!!!

    • jimmy50 says:

His facial expression after the game 6 winner said it all about Marco. I gurantee he rather have Sturm instead of Ryder but no one would bite on that trade.

      • God is on OUR side!!!!!! says:

yeah he was passionate to be a bruin thats for sure. wish i woulda been ryder like you said.

  6. willisss says:

hard to be mad after a loss like that..such a solid effort by the bruins, boucher stole one.

  7. ELWOPPO says:

Just a question, do u guys think Bergeron is worth 5 mil a season? I know his defensive play and face offs are great! But shouldnt he b putting up better numbers! Jordan Staal is a third liner and scored 20 goals or more 3 times in the Last 4 years! And he makes 4 mil a year!

    • pearson says:

yes and no. he hasnt brought much offensive punch and its easy to point out other guys that make that much that have better numbers. but i think theres alot of things that he does behind the scenes that earns him his money. i would classify him as a defensive player, but the diff between him and other def forwards around the league is that he also brings a solid offensive game with lots of creativity.

i dont think he is a great player that will dazzle you every night, but when was the last time he missed an open shot, bobbled a pass, turned it over leading to a goal, or just flat out made a stupid play?

nfl comparison: joe flacco. not great, but does his job, a franchise player, and doesnt LOSE you the game.

    • Bruins says:

Yes. Best overall player on the Bruins besides Chara.

You can look at numbers and question why he’d be worth $5 million but his game is just so complete.

      – most reliable player on the team. Mistakes are very rare. Him and Chara are the two guys you go to when you need to defend a lead late. And he’s one of the guys you put out there if you’re down late as well.

      – play along the boards and puck protection are as good as anyone in the league. When’s the last time you saw him fight for the puck along the boards and not come out with it? Or when have you seen him cough up the puck when he’s shielding it away from people along the boards?

      – defensive and PK ability go without saying

      – shooting percentage has been very consistent and high his entire career. It’s just a matter of how much he shoots.

      – plenty of great passers on the team but he’s right near the top for this. I think his ability to set up opportunities at the point is among the best in the league. Specifically watch this aspect of his game. He’s money when he goes down low and digs the puck out back to the point.

    • Bruins says:

Oh and faceoffs and versatility. He’s been played everywhere except goalie.

  8. mook says:

Bergeron will win the Selke trophy this year. $5mil is a bargain.

Once the lines settle-down, you’ll see his production go up.

  9. Gcole says:

What ever happened to the Russian kid yuri alexandrov that everybody was so happy the bruins signed? I haven’t heard anything

    • #4 says:

Hes apparently looked very good. His stick skills/skating/shooting/vision are all good he’s just shoved around a bit to easily. A year or so in the AHL and a North American Diet/Work Out regimen he should put on some bulk and be a NHL ready.

  10. mook says:

    shelley got 2 games…fyi.

    • CCMGoalie says:

Not enough. If the league wants to eliminate dumb plays like that from the game they need to start suspending people for amounts of time that actually mean something. Two games for Jody Shelley are basically two games for him in a season anyway. The guy averages about 4 mins a game or is a scratch. I think there should be a 5 game minimum for hits like that one.

  11. God is on OUR side!!!!!! says:

the thing is its not like we could send thornton or lucic after him, shelly is one tough son of a bitch, hes not like sean avery or dan carcillo

  12. #4 says:

    No touch Icing.

I never understood why the NHL needs touch up icing… How many times has someone gotten hurt because of that stupid rule vs how many exciting moments its created.

Im guessing its around 15-1 ratio.

  13. ELWOPPO says:

Rask better start tonight! Poor bastered been rotting on the bench!

  14. willisss says:

Any locals play neshl marlboro? Shout your team out

    • #4 says:

Think we talked about his before Willis. My team Brewins played Walpole NESHL last summer. A-League. More like goon league I dont think im ever going back to that shit.

We must’ve had 3-4 Bench clearers and 2 fights a game. Not to mention the fat kid that leg checked one of our guys and nearly blew out his ACL.

The whole time the Refs would just chat it up with the other team lmao and we’d get like 4-1 penalties agianst a game.

Then we made the playoffs as the last seed with a sub .500 record. The team we played legit had an entire different roster than the one they had during the season in the playoffs rofl. Maybe 1-2 kids were the same and like 2 of em were from the ECHL lol. Got shut out like 5-0 screw the NESHL!

  15. ELWOPPO says:

Nesn has a pole right now! Thier asking fans if they think Lucic will hit 40 goals this year! I personally am just hoping for 30! He currently has 15 in Just 28 games! He’s on pace for 44 at this rate! What do you guys think?

    • Bruins says:

Right now he has by far the best shooting percentage in the league. He’s only takien something like 60 shots this year. I doubt we’ll see 40 but I’m expecting something like 30, from both him and Horton.

  16. Bruins says:

In-depth analysis of one of Seguin’s games this year. Give him more minutes CJ.

    • pearson says:

we arent even 30 games into his career and we’re already worried about his playing time.

anyone remember when CJ benched kessel during the playoff series against the canadiens? remember he exploded the next season?

id love to watch seguin tear shit up right now, but these guys know what they are doing and theres a formula to how much a the young guys play, and how often he’s benched just to make a point.

      • Bruins says:

Again, this has nothing to do with Seguin’s development. Dude will pan out either way. It has to do with helping the team out right now. It would be nice to see the most explosive player on the team more often.

  17. JRy says:

There is a reason Claude julien is the coach and we aren’t, seguin will get his minutes everyone needs to calm down.

  18. Birdman2403 says:

Seguin being benched is stupid…plain and simple. Should have loaned him to the World Juniors then…more productive then watching from the press box !

    • Bruins says:

Retarded. For as much good as CJ does for the team with his defensive system he does retarded stuff like this. If this goes to a shootout expect to see Paille out there with Ryder.

We have enough goddamn role players. A little bit of offensive creativity and skill will not kill this team.

    • Gcole says:

what you mean benching seguin? i thought he had flu symptons or something? why the fuck would they bench him? thats bullshit

  19. willisss says:

    Dear claude,

    Go fuck yourself….

  20. Whopperfoo says:

Recovering from illness, it’s paille’s old team, and a good time to let the young one take a breather, learn by watching, and get hungry.

I’m onboard with this move. Needless to say he’s never played close to an 82 game season, then tack on playoffs and it’s good to give him a break.

  21. Gcole says:

Forgot that Ryder has skills and the ability to score! If only he could show commitment and a desire to WANT TO more than a few games here and there

  22. Gcole says:

For a defense first team they suck pretty bad on holding leads… Need offense!! So what does the stupid fuck coach do? Choose paille over seguin!! Great idea.

  23. Gcole says:

Love how Ryan miller thinks he’s tough and pushes chara LOL

  24. Dookie says:

The B’s deserved this loss. IMO they appeared disinterested the whole night and were playing not to lose. Too bad as we could have caught the Habs tonight. If that effort is there again tomorrow, then the Habs will win easily. Watching the Bruins right now is just so damn frustrating – you don’t know what team to expect.

    • backbruin says:

I disagree completely, i thought that we played well and had 2 bad pp’s called against us with two bad bounces!! i thought it was a good effort minus our pp ofcourse!! and the middle goal roy blocked a neutral zone pass that was 3 feet in the air which weas lucky IMO!!!
