When Fully Healthy?

With recent injuries to both Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic it has given Brad Marchand the opportunity to skate with the top nine.  Since his promotion, Marchand has been skating on the left side with Patrice Bergeron as his center.  Marchand’s speed and grit seem to complement Bergeron very well, but the question remains does Marchand stay where he is when all the forwards are at full health?  If that is the case, there has to be a veteran winger sent to the fourth line, which seems unlikely since Claude Julien is the coach.  There is also the option of putting Tyler Seguin as the fourth line center and moving Gregory Campbell to the wing.  Now the question is, what SHOULD the Bruins do going forward. Not what will the Bruins do going forward, because I think we all know the answer to that.

You cannot take Marchand away from Bergy at this point. Bergeron had good chemistry with Caron and they took him away and we saw Bergy’s #s drop off. Now with Marchand he is clicking again. Would be foolish to screw with that Chemistry.

Recchi to the 4th line it is. When Lucic returns id go with this and roll 3 solid lines and reduce the 4ths ice time.

The only thing I would change for Rex is his evenstrength ice time and his PK time(dont know why he gets any).

Also, what about when Stuart comes back. We’ll have to wait and see what Ference’s injury is but the D right now is Chara-Siedes and a bunch of spring chickens. Need more vet presence back there perhaps a trade to bring someone in.

    • lucic crew says:

      bang on

      • moast says:

        I second that!
All of the lines are clicking.
I like Lucic on the third as i think that this will get him back to his roots.

The defence is where I am wondering the most about….surplus of capable players.
        Chara ?
        Seidenberg Kampfer
        Boychuck McQuaid

Obviously I know that ference would be hard to move and is playing real well but him and Stuart are expendable.
Do you carry a 7th all year? If so,Ference or Stuart? Ference is better but Stuart is cheaper.

So, is there potential of trading TO’s 1st or Bos 1st and Stuart for a potential top 4 PMD?
If so, who would even be available?
I think if they did this tweak, they would be golden.

  2. lucic crew says:

Do not touch marchand leave him with bergeron. Those guys are animals together.

    • TheBellEnd says:

Why is it that when teams bring young kids to one of the top lines due to an injury, and then that young kid does extremely well, they send him back to the 4th line/minors just because the injured player is back…makes no sense…but you know it will happen…

Marchand is a beast…put back on the 4th line will be counter-productive..but its guaranteed thats what happens…pisses me off

  3. lucic crew says:

Like i said before we dont need no trade, if boston plays like they’re supposed to watch the fuck out.Now that being said i wont argue if they get a pmd.

  4. Gcole says:

well well well who called it that marchand had the potential to become a top 3 line guy?! when everyone called me retarded for saying it.

    • God is on OUR side!!!!!! says:

i agreed wit you man he is a beast lately

    • lucic crew says:

who ever called you retarded is retarded, i have been saying for the longest time he is wasting his talent on the fourth line.

    • pearson says:

i vaguely remember someone saying this. i dont recall there being alot of people saying your retarded, but i do remember everyone sorta agreeing that no, hes young, and now isnt his time to be expected to try to get there; as well as the chemistry he had going with the 4th at the time no one really thought he needed to move up.

also, we’re talking about him moving up one line. and injuries to other wingers has been a big reason why. im thrilled hes been contributing as much as he has, but i do think he’s been doing this all season regardless of what line hes on.

      • pearson says:

also, with the ice time that each line gets right now, its hard to even say he’s on the 3rd line. is patrice on the 3rd line?

thats the beauty of what we got here, we sorta have the 4th line, and 3 lines that share ice time

  5. Bruins says:

How about Wheeler on the 4th line? Recchi/Ryder/Seguin’s styles don’t suit that line at all. Wheeler has been good but I think he could best transition to playing there.

    There wouldn’t really be a “1st line”.

    • moast says:

I like that, even though Wheeler has been playing well lately, he would still be productive on the 4th, at least the same as Paille.
I also like secong line as they are playing like a first/second line lately.

    • pearson says:

i feel ya on the “Recchi/Ryder/Seguin’s styles don’t suit that line at all” but something makes me real itchy at the 3rd line youve got there. it kinda seems unbalanced with no sort of muscle or size there.

  6. bruins4eva says:

i think that they should move lucic back to the fourth line just for a bit…so he can regain his checking form…and not have to worry about scoring…

  7. ELWOPPO says:

    Crosby out! Go B’ssssssssssssssss!

  8. willisss says:

Mans weekend at the cape means that I have been drinking since 8pm…of last night…cheers my fellow bruin brothers…and may the pens take it in the ass by the long dick of the bruins

  9. Bruins says:

    2-0-1 vs. Flyers
    2-0 vs. Lightning
    2-0 vs. Penguins
    3-1 vs. Capitals

9-1-1 vs. the 4 best teams in the conference.

  10. UEDkop says:

You know, I like exciting, well-played games and all, but it would be really nice if the B’s scored first every once in a while.

  11. lucic crew says:

Come boys fuck these pens up go bssssssssssss

  12. dookie says:

Really would have liked to see McGrattan today with Lucic out and Thornton hurting.

  13. Bruins says:

I think I’d feel more comfortable if we were actually down going into the third. lol

  14. moast says:

I missed all but the last 5 minutes…how was the game?
45 shots on net and it looked light they played hard.
    Possitives? Negatives?
    How was Rask?
Can’t wait until this team is consitantly healthy and rolling the same 4 lines.

    • Bruins says:

Overall it was a really good game. The completely controlled the game in the second and third.

Rask was awesome except he could’ve had the second goal, but he did get a piece of it. he made a few saves he had no business making though.

I thought the team played well except for the Krejci line. Krejci in particular was brutal. Not sure why, but I’m sure he’ll get going.

  15. Manitoba Fan says:

I thought they played well today. Pittsburgh got a couple lucky goals, one off Kuntiz’s skate and Tukka fell backwards while backing up allowing Dupius to have an open net. All in all i thought they played good and Tukka was also pretty solid, made big saves. Third period we were all over them just could not fucking score. we got the puck by Fluery three times but it would not cross the line. Fluery got lucky. Aw well lets have another good one on monday i hope. GO BRUINS!

  16. God is on OUR side!!!!!! says:

well good news is were gunna beat the canes on monday

  17. bill says:

agree best lose all year. powerplay sucks

  19. ELWOPPO says:

    * think *

  20. ELWOPPO says:

Rumour has it that the laughs are looking heavily at wheeler, With Kaberle moving the other way! I’d do it, What do u guys think?

    • jimmy50 says:

Not with the play of Wheeler, and development of Kampfer. Something on the PP has to change though! Maybe Kaberle is the answer?

I just hate seeing Recchi and Seguin on it.

The six fowards should be Bergeron Savard, Krecji, Ryder, Horton, Lucic.

At point should now be Chara, Siedenberg, Ference, and Kampfer.

  21. mook says:

i don’t think chiarelli is interested in helping the leafs at all…i’m sure he’d like to see kaberle dealt at the deadline to ottawa for a bag of pucks (phillips).

    • moast says:

Does anyone here think that Wheeler, Prospect and Pick would really hurt the TO1st? they have dug there whole pretty deep and I can’t see Wheeler setting that straight?

  22. willisss says:

I have zero to complain about when it comes to wheellers game this year…or ryders

    • moast says:

I do have to agree with that….Wheeler is playing like a big boy and contributing offensively for 2 mil. Ryder has shown he is trying hard and playing consistent, hopefully he can break out on the top line.

    • Bruins says:

Wheeler has made me eat my words, but Ryder is still way too inconsistent for me, although he’s much better than last year.

  23. lucic crew says:

    beautiful boys keep it up.

  24. Haus says:

The lines are set up beautiful today, with Wheels on the 4th line gelling well. I’m not sure Burke would want to do another deal with the Bruins,or vice-versa. Kaberle is good, but overrated and not worth a 1st round pick.

    • pearson says:

absolutely agreed. bringing in kaberle would create an unnecessary headache on the DLine. getting another dman mean stuart is gone or kampfer goes back to providence. and the way they are playing now… why both move the low salary, to take on kaberle’s?

maybe over past offseason you make that move, but right now, theres no need.

  25. Gcole says:

What the fuck I just got home as the games over

  26. pearson says:

now that the team is hot, and i know i wont get alot of ridiculous and irrational ideas, i wanna know what would you be looking for at the deadline? do we really need a PMD? maybe an upgrade at wing?

forget what we’d trade for em, but what players would you chase right now?

  27. Gcole says:

Don’t change anything, let the guys keep rolling and get comfortable together

    • moast says:

Sorry Gcole but this is what im hearing all morning:

Lots of chatter today that Bruins pushing hard to acquire Matt Moulson from Isles. (Jimmy Murphy, Haggerty and Eklund)….supposedly for picks but a player has to be going cap wise?

I think that he fits this team real well and if chemistry hits, he could be deadly!

    • pearson says:

Bob McKenzie: “If the NYI are trading Matt Moulson, as has been reported/rumored elsewhere, I am told it’s not to Boston.”

Bob is usually the first to break trade news, and is very rarely ever wrong.

  28. Caperfan says:

This team still needs a puck moving power play defenseman and Kaberle would be a very nice fit in Boston. He would think he died and went to heaven and I think would re-ignite his career. I could only see good things from a trade like this. You all know you need special teams to do anything in the playoffs and our power play sucks on the “D” just about every night.

  29. Haus says:

Yes I believe he scored 30 playing with Tavares. The guy can score em in bunches. Getting Moulson would be an absolute coup, but why would NYI want to trade him? Is his contract.

  30. Gcole says:

How did the bruins get kampfer? Wasn’t it part of the recchi or Morris trade?

  31. Gcole says:

Watching the replay and what the hells up the goalies ass? Lol he grabs wheelers leg and hauls him down, two hands Bergeron, and then jumps at seguin! Guys crazy haha
