Last game before all-star break

Tonight’s matchup against Florida is the last game before the all-star break.  Mark Stuart is a healthy scratch for the third consecutive game.  Stuart, a former first round pick who is also an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, has been replaced in the lineup by Adam McQuaid. Both defensemen play similar games, so it’s a good bet one of them will not be back next season.

Fourth line once again looks good.
Has anyone else noticed how many times Horton and Wheeler have fallen down only 10 minutes in…..must be a draft?

  2. moast says:

    Krejci looks hurt….nice…..WTF!!!

  3. Haus says:

Krech back on the ice. All lines look good so far

  4. ELWOPPO says:

I almost broke my TV! Thats all this team needs! Thank God he came back!

  5. gibbz says:

for the same price, i would much rather have stuart then mcquiad

  7. #1 beesfan77 says:

Sorry but seguin just looks lost at center.

  8. Haus says:

Ference and McQuaid making me look bad by having a tough one so far.

  9. ELWOPPO says:

    Go B’s?

    • moast says:

Wow…that was an intersting game. Not sure what to say anymore…..maybe that rookie Marchand has more goals than Ryder and Horton and that the team went into don’t lose mode in the third.
Im sorry but I am officialy on the “Horton is an epic fail” bus. I do agree that he is putting the effort in and he skated hard tonight but they got him to score goals. He’s not in a slump, he has a full on voodoo hex on him and by the looks of it, will never score a goal again. (this was sarcasm)
Sorry B’s faithful but he is on pace for what, 20 goals, at just under 4 million that doen’t cut it…..we already have Ryder.

  10. moast says:

This team is a deep team, as long as everyone shows up to play. They are in a great spot going into the break but I do have to ask:
Do you guys think that if one of the following:
got hurt for a conciderable amount of time, that the depth would be there to handle it or would it be even more obvious that this team needs some tweaking?

  11. Craig says:

One more win and Timmy will be leading that stat too. Man he is good.

    • Bruins says:

Official Timmy numbers going into the break:

      24-5-6, 1.81 GAA, .945 save %, 7 SO

      • UEDkop says:

I know a lot of players don’t like to be at the all-star game and a lot of fans don’t like to know that their favorite players are playing a potentially damaging game that doesn’t mean anything, but:

I am glad Thomas will be at the ASG. He seems to thrive when he is worked and, quite frankly, I fear so much time off might cool him down.

        Thomas MVP? Bring it.

      • Bruins says:

I don’t see how anyone can argue he isn’t MVP right now.

  12. lucic crew says:

Thomas is the man. GOOOOOOOOO BSSSSSSSSS

  13. ELWOPPO says:

When u guys say MVP u mean Hart trophy? Good question! I think Stamkos and Crosby will be in that talk aswell! I hope Timmy wins it though!

    • hendrik says:

i guess crosby will win it because, you know, it’s the nhl

    • #4 says:

I would’ve said Crysby until his injury. 7 SO .95 SV 1.88 GAA??? Is that for reals? Thomas all the way.

    • Bruins says:

Stamkos has St. Louis. St. Louis is a guy that almost would deserve it as much as Stamkos. Crosby has no one but he’s been injured for the last while and the Pens still have a winning record with him out. Thomas is putting up the best numbers in history by a wide margin and the Bruins are 4-10-1 without him. It’s Thomas’ award.

      • Haus says:

Seems to me that due to my delay in finishing my post, it looks like I repeated some of what you say here. Well at least I know we are thinking the same!

      • #1 BeesFan77 says:

wouldnt say crosby has noone… Malkin??? great player!

  14. mook says:

i don’t like this poll. sit boychuk!

crosby may win the hart because he is the best player and most valuable to his team. that’s the truth! watch him play, he’s fantastic.

    • Haus says:

Gotta disagree here. Pittsburgh has kept pace with Philly despite Crosby being out. The Bruins are I believe 4-10-1 without Thomas. Crosby is the best player in the league no question in my mind, but Timmy is more valuable. That all being said I’m sure Crosby would get the nod because he’s more valuable to the NHL brand.

  15. Haus says:

Word out of Boston is Savard is home in Ontario and showing encouraging signs of improvement.

  16. ELWOPPO says:

    He’s comming back fuckers!!!!!!!!!

  17. Birdman2403 says:

At this point Thomas MVP for sure !! Like everyone has said…look at the record when he doesn’t play. Also Tuukka might be the best goalie ever with a terrible record.

If Horton can pick it up after the break and we add a few little pieces ( PP D-man ) I like the way it looks !

  18. mook says:

    Semin signed for $6.7mil.

  19. mook says:

    ok here’s what i would do…

    thornton-campbell-caron or paille

    healthy stuart-greene (from LA)

somehow send ryder somewhere (atl might take himi since he is ufa next yr)

    so savard (-4mil) and ryder (-4mil) then greene (+3mil) then and-drop-off (+4mil).

antropov is a beast. imagine the size of that top line! ok maybe a gamble, but i’d do it if savard retires. am i crazy?

  20. #1 BeesFan77 says:

For people that are on that epic Horton fail bus …. get off of it. Kid is a player,he is on a slump everyone goes on them. Its not like hes playing bad or anything he skates everynight and getting shots on net. He could be like wheeler and miss the net everytime. Seems like a lot but 70% of the time it seems like horton is getting robbed. He will pick it back up , dont throw in the towel on him i followed him in Florida hes the real deal.

    • lucic crew says:

Thats no slump, thats i forgot how to put the fucken puck in the net. 20 games one goal that is brutal. However i make a prediction playoffs he rips it.

      • moast says:

I hope he does rip it up in the playoffs but also the regular season. Sorry 1beesfan 77 but from what I have seen this year, Epic Fail. He started strong then went missing. 1 goal in 20 games is quite sad. I know he is the real deal but cmon on pace for 20 goals this year….not good enough. Will it still be a slump if he only gets 20 goals this year…..or an epic fail? 4mil is alot of dough….

  21. #1 BeesFan77 says:

Semin is locked up for a year… that keeps him out of Boston. However, far fetched but Mike Green that would be sick Wash still has to resign…. and they already have a lot of hefty bills out there and still not a quality goalie.

  22. backbruin says:

give me specific instructions on how to stream celts brothers!! ty!! quickly if you can big money!!!

  23. seguin>hall says:

Does anyone else HATE this all-star format?

    • #4 says:

I kind of like it more than E vs W. Its not as good as it could be if they did the allstar game on a pond somewhere with oldstyle nets and threw sticks in the middle to pick a team that way.

      Also offer incentive for winning.

    • Bruins says:

I love it. I’m finally at least a little bit excited for all-star weekend.

  24. #4 says:

WOW This Allstar game maybe a bigger joke than I had anticipated.

They did a mock player draft w/ 2 of the Yotes’ allstars. Thomas was the LAST goalie picked after:

No wonder players allways crash into him they probably hate that old guy thats breaking every NHL goaltending record

  25. cebbie says:

They should have a competition of how fast some players can count thier money after playing like shit all year.
    That would be semi entertaining

  26. #4 says:

OMFG GO look at the poll on NHL.COM

Who is the second greatest NHL player after Wayne Gretzky?

    Gordie Howe:
    19.52 %
    Bobby Hull:
    3.55 %
    Mario Lemieux:
    39.03 %
    Bobby Orr:
    22.12 %
    Maurice Richard:
    8.34 %
    7.44 %

I just vomited up my lunch all over my keyboard THAT IS A JOKE~! Even Wayne himself has said that Orr and Richard and Howe are inarguably the best ever. He is just happy to even be considered! NHL.COM IS A JOKE!

    • Bruins says:

Disgusting. People seem to forget about that half of the game called defense. Gretzky can’t even hold Orr’s jock strap.

      • lucic crew says:

okay lets not be to bias, dont get me wrong orr is one of the greatest hockey players of all time. Gretzky was just being humble, you think hes going to go on t.v and say you fucken right im the greatest. I won’t even get started on all his records, you think orr is the best of all time thats fine. But to say cant even hold his jock strap, come on buddy talk realistic.

      • Bruins says:

This has nothing to do with Gretzky. It has to do with the fact that so many people claim he’s the best. The game is not all offense (Gretzky is obviously the best offensive player at all time). Orr is the only player in history to be both the best offensive and defensive player in the league and he’s right at the top for both all-time. Offense is only 50% of the game…

      • BACKBRUIN says:

Bruins come on now!! I was a huge or fan and he was a batter skater tougher etc… but to say he can’t hold his jockstrap…come on dude!!! i’ve had this debate with huge gretzky fans and it’s neither here nor there!!

they were both the best at there positions but in there prime if i had to pick one it would be gretzky!!! as much as i hate to admit it…’s as close a debate you could have but the numbers are what they are!! and yes orr’s carreer was cut short but nobody is even close to 100 of his records…tough to argue no!!

  27. moast says:

Weiss for Bos 1st/2nd & prospects
    Kaberle for Wheeler Stuart Picks

    Lucic Krejci Ryder
    Recchi Bergeron Marchand
    Horton Weiss Seguin
    Caron Campbell Thornton

    Chara Kaberle
    Seidenberg Kampfer
    Boychuk Ference

Probably wouldn’t work cap wise but would love to see it. Not much out there to pick from without selling the farm.
Horton and Ryder could always swap spots if needed.
    Weiss and Horton have chemistry.
As much as Kaberle is hated on here he is what is needed on the top pairing especially when the pickings are slim.
I feel that this is a true cup contender.

    • mook says:

      absolutely not.

weiss is not worth that, and the panthers now have a gm who won’t get fleeced. i have no interest in making the leafs any better, so let them rot with kaberle, then he’ll walk for free in the summer.

      • mook says:

wheeler is a fist-line winger on the leafs, and stuart is probably a #3 defenseman…if not higher.

      • moast says:

Its been stated that Weiss is available at the right price. When I said it above, I meant a first or a second possibly with prospects. Weiss would be a great pickup and has chemistry with Horton…..maybe get this guy to put up some numbers.
Wheeler and Stuart do not make Toronto a better team……Stuart doesn’t come close to replaceing Kaberle and Wheeler might help but there hole is too deep.

I love how people are so easy to shoot down ideas that arent too outlandish without suggesting what would be “better”. When you look, there isn’t much out there.

Or are you one of the people that thinks this team w/o Savard is all they need to be a contender?

      • Haus says:

Moast, I don’t think people are just looking to have a good time shooting down your trade ideas, a lot of it has to do with looking at the deals from the other GM’s perspective. That being said, it would be interesting if they moved Weiss. The Panthers rebuilding project looks like its going well and seeing that their best Center prospects are a couple years away (Bjugstad, McFarland) I would be surprised if they parted with him.

      • moast says:

Haus I can see what your saying but Burke would be getting fair value for Kaberle especially since he wont be resigned.
Florida on the other hand would get a decent return of 1st and prospects but he said he would be available if the price was right. What I suggested wouldn’t get it done.
I’d love to see it though…..

  28. Bruins says:

The only thing that could have made Kessel being picked last more epic was if he started crying. That was awesome.

  29. lucic crew says:

    haha fuck you kessel

  30. mook says:

ryan rishaug: Brian burke this morning, feels they should figure out a way next year not to have one player sitting there as last pick. Do last 5 together.

i kinda felt bad for kessel, since it’sw burke that the players were trying to burn! did you hear the comment about toronto not being a hockey market? hahahah.

anyways moast, wheeler and stuart definitely make toronto a better team. professional or not, kaberle will not play at 100% as long as he is there.

and why do you want to become the florida panthers? i have made suggestions…like acquiring antropov and greene. that actually solves our problems (centre and a defenseman who can skate). what will weiss do for us? we don’t have problems scoring goals anymore…do we not have a boner for horton anymore? or does he just need (wait for it…) a good centre to play with? lucic-antropov-horton. the line of death.

  31. Bruins says:

Seguin was put in the hardest shot competition? I haven’t seen him take a slapper all year.

  32. ELWOPPO says:

Had to be thomas who fell eh? Of course!!!

  33. Gcole says:

    Damn seguin hit 97 mph

  34. gibbz says:

    trade chara.

  35. ELWOPPO says:

  36. Bruins says:

97??? Holy shit! I was shocked by that. This kid has so much raw talent it’s not even funny. Just imagine when he puts it all together.

Congrats to Z. Cant say Im surprised.

  37. lucic crew says:

Never doubted you for a second zzzzzzzzzz goooooo bssssssssssss.

  38. God is on OUR side!!!!!! says:

which team are you guys cheering for tonight?
its not Staal vs lidstrom, Its CHARA VS THOMAS!!!!!

  39. Bruins1 says:

Would u ever think about trading Seguin to Edmonton along with Wheeler for Hemsky and their 1st rd pick this year? We could get Larson. Not a bad thought. what u think???
Hemsky would be better than Wheeler
Seguin would be for a top defenseman

    • gibbz says:

      shut up.

    • Haus says:

That is dumb. Seguin is rated a better prospect than anybody in the ’11 draft. Also Edm will prob pick 3rd. Hemsky is out INDEFINELY with concussion issues. Other than that, great idea. You sure you’re not a Buffalo troll. Funny because when Sabre fans come to the garden they are pretty good guys usually, my favorite visiting fans.

    • Bruins says:

Hell no. We’re getting Larsson anyways.

      • #4 says:

Doubt it he’s going #1-2. Kinda a pipe dream that the weefles finish below NJD/NYI but could happen.

      • Bruins says:

NJD are on fire lately. I actually think it should be expected that they finish ahead of Toronto. They’ll be like Carolina last year. The Isles suck, but Central Scouting has stupidly ranked Larsson 4th so there’s always a chance he could slide. I’m really liking the top 4 this year, and to a lesser extent the top 5. If we get a top 5 pick it’s gravy.

  40. ELWOPPO says:

Chris Philips to Boston very close! “Aparantly”
    E4 on hockey buzz?

    • pearson says:

      moulson was e4 too.

    • pearson says:

i read eklund too. i read it because sometimes, theres nothing else to read. however, did you ever notice all the ads on that site? you know how much those advertisers pay when you get that many viewers? my point being, he has to write something to keep people interested so he can keep his wallet fat.

he hasnt rumored something that EVER came true. and only reports it once its done and reported by someone else.

besides. phillips is 3.5 mil, has 3 assists, and a -23 this year. id be less suprised if he reported that they were pushing hard to give george laraque a 10 year deal.

    • Haus says:

      Ecklund= garbage
He just tosses wild ideas out there without any sources. Waste of time. What’s worst is people actually pay good money to read it.

  41. BosBrn77 says:

I never thought I would say I LIKE Eklund from HockeyBuzz! But he just said….

“My prediction for MVP of the All-Star Game……
    Tim Thomas.”

Ok, he just went up a level or two!

  42. mook says:

Some actual Bruins rumours and news:
Ottawa sun: The Canadiens, Bruins and Sharks could have interest in Ottawa defenseman Chris Phillips
CSNNE: Joe Haggerty reports there’s been strong interest on the trade front in Boston Bruins rugged defenseman Mark Stuart. Moving him could be an option for the Bruins if the team needs to clear cap space for a roster move.

    courtesy of spector

  43. Haus says:

Joe Haggerty is reporting several teams are asking for Mark Stuart. Unlike Eklund, this is actually a credible source.

  44. Bruins says:

The Phillips rumors are weird. If we need another defenseman it has to be someone mobile. I want no part of Phillips.

  45. ccm says:

Bergy topping the NHL’s three stars of the month! It’s nice to see him finally get some league-wide recognition because there aren’t many players out there that deserve it more than him.
