Wideman, Boyes, Sturm on the move

Dennis Wideman has been traded from the Florida Panthers to the Washington Capitals for a third round pick and forward Jake Hauswirth.  The up-tempo, offensive minded Capitals system may suit Wideman very favorable. Also going to the capitals is Marco Sturm, who was claimed off waivers on Friday.

Former Bruin and one time 40 goal scorer, Brad Boyes, has also been traded back to the Northeast Division.  Boyes goes to Buffalo for a second round pick.  Also making news today is defenseman Mark Stuart who was inked to a 3 year $5.1 million contract extension.

Shows that Chia may know a thing or two huh…

    Penner To Habs, Fuck sakes!

  3. G-Rant says:

Not real. He is gone to L.A

  4. Neely8 says:

    Seen that!Great News!

  5. UEDkop says:

    Add Samsonov to the list.

Sent to Florida for Bryan Allen.

  6. Neely8 says:

Washington were definatly the big Winners today! I guess Boston was confident with the team! No need to upgrade when ur tops in the league in def and offence!!!

    • lucic crew says:

Yep pc didn’t have to do anything else he did well.

    • #4 says:

If you could consider wideman and a shell of what used to be Marco Sturm winning then I guess.

Drug tests dont lie, scoreboard dont lie, Duh. Winning.

    • Haus says:

I thought the Caps had mixed results. Examine:
They get Arnott at the expense of the #1 faceoff man in the NHL and a 2nd rounder. Devils, Winning!
They get Wideman, an offensive Dman for a 3rd rounder and an ECHL guy with an awesome name. Good deal if you need an offensive Dman.
I think the big winners of today were Vancouver. They get Higgins for the playoffs to give them some scoring on the 3rd or 4th line, shipping out a young Dman and a 3rd. They also pick up that cunt Lapierre to agitate on their 4th line and chip in goals for a similar deal.

      • Bruins says:

I can’t wait to see a Wideman-Green pairing. They might put up some points but they’ll get scored on everytime they’re on the ice.

      • Haus says:

There is speculation that Green may be more seriously injured than previously thought. When I first saw that they dealt for Wideman I figured McPhee learned nothing from last years deadline; stocking up on offense-first Dmen only to get caught up ice too often in the playoffs. But now with Green down possibly long term and Poti on the IR, its just Wides and Carlson.

  7. black n gold says:

What a boring deadline lots of useless garbage getting thrown around

  8. BosBrn77 says:

The Minnesota Wild traded goalie Anton Khudobin to the Boston Bruins for defenceman Jeff Penner and forward Mikko Lehtonen.

    • willisss says:

      Haha pointless

      • BosBrn77 says:

I have to disagree with you willisss. I like the trade. Nice to have some more depth at goaltender. I wouldn’t say our goaltending prospects are terrible, but can never use too many.

I have to say, with the way Toronto is playing…. I was wondering if PC would have moved their 1st rounder. Maybe at the draft to another team that wants to move up.

    • Bruins says:

Can’t be anything but positive for us. Our goaltending prospects are terrible.

      • CCMGoalie says:

(Not to continually disagree with you Bruins) But I have to disagree with you here. Don’t forget we have Michael Hutchinson coming up through who can be good if he’s molded correctly. This kid we picked up will DEFINITELY push him to be a better goalie sooner rather than later.

      • Bruins says:

Never been a fan of Hutch. Goalies are tough to predict though, so he might turn into something. Not exactly like we need a stud though. We have Rask.

  9. CCMGoalie says:

Also it seems I am/was wrong about Lucic last night, no word on whether he’s injured that hand or not. Fingers crossed on this one for sure.

  10. zamer says:

I hope in this years draft the bruins pick some goalies because after thomas and rask we have shit.

    • mook says:

after the two best goalies in the league…we suck. yep.

      • Neely8 says:

Mook, Rask hasnt been half the goalie he was last year. Lets be honest! And Thomas is 37 years old! Zamer has a great point!

      • Bruins says:

Ya Rask isn’t having a top ten save % of all-time season again. Dude fuckin sucks.

    • pearson says:

we just traded for a goalie prospect…. rask is gonna take care of the duty in a year or so (maybe not?) how many goalie do you need? maybe in the 3rd or 4th round yea, grab a goalie if ya want, but getting some young defensmen and some solid forwards to play with seguin in the future would be the better bet

      • Haus says:

This goalie was probably brought in to help Providence push for playoffs. From what I understand Schaeffer is an average AHL goalie.

      • #4 says:

Thats what I was thinking the Reasoning was as well.

This kid is suppose to be NHL Ready though and he allready played the “If you dont play me Ill go to KHL” in Minn. I hope he’s cool with 1-2 years in Providence.

      • Haus says:

Khudobin is on the last year of his entry level deal. He might be headed to KHL anyway, I think they expect Courchaine or Hutchinson to step into Provy next year. We will see.

  11. willisss says:

Its just insurance if timmy gets hurt

  12. marchmam says:

got tickets to the lightning game!

  13. Neely8 says:

Ha ha ha I like this new guy! He talks to himself!

  14. CCMGoalie says:

New Dropkick Murphys album, Going Out in Style out today.

Title song includes great music video featuring some of the current and former (albeit GREAT Bruins). I suggest check it out and make it a tailgating classic.

  15. mook says:

minny fans on tsn are freaking out that they got ripped-off on khubodin. should be a good goalie move…

    • CCMGoalie says:

I think this definitely shows PC’s shrewdness as a GM. The guy is just a snake in the grass (in so many good ways) for us and he makes the right moves and signs the right guys. I hope people realize this. 5-0-0 against some good teams after acquiring the names we did and sending certain ones out, I hope no one questions Claude and PC after this. They know what they’re doing.

      • Bruins says:

I don’t understand how anyone can question Chia. Do people not remember what this team was like before he took over?

      • moast says:

I like the snake in the grass analogy as he really is. I mean really, every deal, minor or big, has been pretty fruitful.
This team is on a roll and at the most important time. Chemistry and team bonding over this last road trip, finished off by a game with OTT then back home to show off the new team.
So fucking stoked to be a Bruins fan!
Im looking forward to a long playoff especially to meet PHI in the ECF!!!
        Sooo pumped!!!

      • willisss says:

Just wait until next year when everyone wants to de-thrown him…same shit every season

    • Hendrik says:

From what i’ve Read, Most of them are cool with it because they have good goalie prospects, like Dennis endras (MVP of World Championships last Year)

  16. Bruins says:

Yeah remember we thought the Kampfer deal was going to turn into nothing as well, and he’s already contributing.

  17. mook says:

    old news, but…
Bruins general manager Chiarelli estimated Andrew Ference could be out “a week and a half to two weeks, maybe more” with the lower body injury he suffered Saturday in Vancouver. – Boston Herald

  18. zamer says:

With the hnidy on the team its going to make us lot better with our D,when it comes to the playoffs experience means the most. The one thing I would love to see come playoffs is sit paille seguin bring up mcdermiad or riech these guys play hard every shift and work the boards well, playoffs are all about how can win the battles.

    • CCMGoalie says:

As much as I like Reich and I like the idea of experience over youth, I don’t like the idea of bringing up Macdermaid and Reich. Maybe bring up just Reich in case a grinder goes down with an injury, but he’s not a guy that can change a shift with his skills. But Providence needs some playoff experience as well, so keep that in mind.

Both Seguin and Paille have something Reich doesn’t have, Speed. And having a number of speedy players up front will help us. I’d rather see Paille play more in the playoffs than Seguin for his experience, but on the other hand Seguin’s skill set begs to be put into a situation where he can be very dangerous on a 3rd or 4th line.

Overall, I say we start with Paille because he has that experience, have him play two games, and then swap him out for Seguin so he gets a taste of the playoffs and that experience without having him bite off more than he can chew.

Well boys I think the B’s winning streak comes to an end 2nite! It looks like we just ran out of gas! Ottawa simply wants it more!

Just saying guys but the Bruins only ever sweep a six game road trip one other time in their history, 1972, oh yeah is it a sign lol lol!!! Go Bruins Go!!!

  22. Bruins says:

Haha I was going to make a comment about that one by Jack but I see I’ve been beaten to it.

  23. lucic crew says:

    Solid game tuke.

  24. JRy says:

So who gets the nod in net Thursday?

  25. Studlycodfish says:

I was laughing because I am so happy ELWOPPO it was kind of the evil laugh. Go Bruins Go!!!!

    • ELWOPPO says:

No worries! When the Bruins are winning ELWOPPO is a happy Man! All im saying is that if this road record really is an “OMEN”
I will make the news here in Toronto when my B’s win the Cup! Can u say GO NUTS!!!!

  26. willisss says:

Perk gets a contract extension!!…….oh wait, basketball fucking sucks and its played by pussies

    • ELWOPPO says:

Last years finals broke the record for most viewers watched world wide! Celtics/Lakers is the BEST rivalry in sports! Basketball sucks? According to who, You?

      • willisss says:

Yes…according to me, or any self respected hockey fan

      • Haus says:

If forced at gunpoint, I can watch college hoops. But the NBA? Go ahead and shoot me in the face. Its the worst. No reason to watch until the 4th Q at the earliest. There is 24 timeouts a game not counting out of bounds, fouls, jump balls, end of Qtr and halftime. Referees are totally arbitrary and don’t hide their favoritisms. The refs decide almost all the games.
So to sum up its a bunch of loafing around taking a break every minute, then actually start trying in the last 12 minutes. But, one team will get royally screwed by crooked refs so all effort will be wasted and worst of all you lose a part of your life you can never get back. But hey! They dunked!
Spot on Williss, NBA sucks balls.

ElWoppo, N’SYNC had the #1 album before. Does that make them awesome?

      • lucic crew says:

Yup sorry have to agree garbage sport.

      • CCMGoalie says:

Basketball is the winter sport for guys who slap eachothers arms, fall on the ground, and take 2-3 weeks to let the bruises heal. Name me ONE person other than MJ who played in a playoff game with some serious ailment. (And no Magic Johnson playing with
a form of AIDS doesn’t count.)

Now anyone off the top of their heads name me 10 NHL players who played in big games despite injuries.

Gee which league is for REAL men?

  27. jimmy50 says:

Just a quick thought on the Toronto pick. In some ways it is good for us that the pick is not a top 3 pick. For Seguin/Hall it was 1a/1b. Coming from Juniors they couldn’t play in the AHL, and were basically forced to the big club while not quite ready. For the Bruins, with the current roster, and prospects in the system, we do not have the need for that high profile pick coming in right away. Hopefully Toronto does not move up the standings anymore, we get the 4-8 pick, and that player comes into play few years down the road.

  28. jimmy50 says:

Anyone here resign Ryder to a less expensive deal? 2-3 years, 3 million per.

    • willisss says:

Now this is a very good question…I think everyone on here needs to reply, as of right now, I wouldd be for a one year extension….if he sucks? Healthy scratch…or send down to provi if he clears waivers. He is having a great year and I feel that he shut up all his cridicts, this is ryder, not crosbie…this year he is playing exactly how he should and what bruin fans should expect. Let’s go year to year with this guy and see what happens…I say ryd out ryder

      • #4 says:

1 year contracts for Ryder. its obvious that he plays better when money is on the line.

2.75mil 1yr? Repeat if he scores 22+ the next year. If he sucks its an expiring contract and any bottom feeder would gladly take him to shed salary.

    • Haus says:

Jimmy I think you nailed it. Cap is probably gonna rise by a few mil, giving the Bs more cap room than they expect. I would give thought to showing Ryder 2yrs/3mil per. Im thinking on the open market he will be offered more and hes gone.

  29. mook says:

    tuukka is the best again.

  30. NSBruins says:

Folks….fourth overall in a re-building year. The stats on this site are out of date

  31. Haus says:

Nothing but Bruins on the radio today. I have to say though, a lot of the calls are atrocious. Did you know that the Bruins won the Adams Cup 2 years ago, but were knocked out in the first round? Or that they do the defensing now since the trades? It sounds like from what I’m hearing, next time the Bruins lose, we will hear that this team has no shot and are inconsistent.

  32. #4 says:

    OH man!

Bergeron just did a Charlie Sheen voice on a 985 interview. THat is a Sweeet soundboard hahaaha

Barely was able to control myself at work too funny.

  33. ELWOPPO says:

Not going to argue with you people, The NBA sells itsself! U guys dont like it thats ur problem! This is a Hockey site so lets stick to Hockey!
What team are we most likely to play in round 1? I predict Carolina first!

  34. Studlycodfish says:

If you check my earlier post you’ll see that I have always been a Ryder fan since he is a fellow Newfoundlander. It’s easy to point the finger at Ryder alot of the times and last year not sure if you guys know but his brother was in alot of trouble sure that didn’t help but who was good last year? I say sign him at 2.5 for 2 years . Watch every game this year and last and I can’t recall many games he wasn’t working his hole off.Go Bruins Go!!!

  35. MentalWhale says:

The Bruins are hot… can’t wait for the playoffs. I want us to see the habs in the opening round, knock them back so hard their french ancestors feel it, knock out the penguins in the second round, who I have hated since Ulf! Feed the flyers some cheese steak in the conference final and I would love nothing more than to meet Detroit in the final and make them regret those two games last month!

    • ELWOPPO says:

Id say that sounds about right!

    • Haus says:

Wow. Some nice anger. But will you still be posting on this site if it don’t happen? Or are you jumping on the bandwagon? I hope it’s the former, and welcome aboard.

      • Mentalwhale says:

I only wish I were on the band wagon sometimes… But anybody who knows me knows I am a Bruins fan!

  36. Manitoba Fan says:

Just got back from Las Vegas, I see the boys won six straight, I hope they looked better then they did last night. Looking a little tired or something but i think last game of a long road trip its understandable. Liked the way Tuuka looked though. I know I have said this before, and i hate saying it cause I know the kid is gonna be great but Seguin imo makes our fourth line weak. That line would be alot better with Paille on it. Our fourth line has always been our most consistent line and has always looked strong but with Seguin playing on it, it looks weak. Lots of people believe that Kelly should be on the fourth and seguin on the third but why. IMO Kelly, peverly and ryder and doing just fine leave it alone. I do belive Kelly would make our fourth better but then our third gets weak again. Seguin could get nothing going with bergeron and Reechi. The line was weak. They put Marchand on it and magically they are great. Look the bruin oranization fucked up they should have let him play another year in junior or sent him to providence. It was a gamble. Seguin came into a tough situation with the bruin organization. We have Four good talented centermen who aren’t scared to get their noses dirty. I love the bruins and love having Seguin on our team cause he is gonna be great, but he is just not there yet, and it’s NOT a big deal. I honestly do hope come playoffs that Paille plays on the fourth line. GO BRUINS GO!!
o ya put put 25 dollars on the bruins in vegas when they played vancouver, they got me 85 dollars back!!!! Thanks boys.

    • pearson says:

i think they looked better than the score showed. the PP looks to have more fluidity with kaberle sitting at the point.

it was a close game because anderson and tuuk were going nuts. there was a BUNCH of great saves from both goalies. great shutout by tuuk, and meanwhile timmy has gotten plenty of rest.

    • dallasmith says:

Put $100 bet with 21 -1 odds in September on the B’s to win the cup. Was laughed at…. can’t wait for the playoffs.

  37. ELWOPPO says:

These mother fucken Leafs are for real! They better get smashed by Philly 2nite, Bring them back down to earth!

    • UEDkop says:

Ah, but then the question is: do we want the B’s to shoot for 1st in the East or do we want the Leafs to lose night after night?

      • lucic crew says:

I got to go with leafs lose night after night. Don’t worry about the bs their on fire, another big win tonight boys GOOOOOOOO BSSSSSSSSS!!!

  38. willisss says:

I think out of all the young guns out there, ovi, crosbie etc…I respect stamkos tthe most…it seems like he bitches the least and isn’t playing to market himself. I am a fan

  39. cebbie says:

First game back home after a long road trip – I am expecting the usual let down – Need a couple fights early in the game to get these guys pumped – Thornton is due – I predict he will drop them in the first 5 minutes

  40. moast says:

    Lecavalier is out tonight.
Mike Smith is in and hasn’t played forever.
    Stamkos is supposedly slumping.
Bruins are red hot and returning home with a new team!
Im expecting a few fights as well as a score of 3-1 Bruins!!

  41. Studlycodfish says:

Honestly with the rangers slumping and the leafs right behind the canes if they can keep winning and get into 8 or 7 that could be a first rd match up with the Bruins and that’s a match up I like, the draft pick will still be decint and it’s not like we need to draft a roster ready player( though it would be nice) I think it’s a win win for Bruins if they are winning or losing.Go Bruins Go!!!!!!

  42. Bruins says:

Likely first-round playoff opponent: Habs, Rangers, Hurricanes, Sabres, or… Leafs

Who do you want? We have some ugly recent history with the first 3 (Rangers in the regular season).

  43. Whopperfoo says:

    Queafs first choice, then habs.

  44. cebbie says:

Dont care who it is as long as it is covered on TV –

  45. Gcole says:

playing the leafs in the first round would be awesome. DESTROY THEM. would love to see it!

  46. Kessel'sBro says:

Well, Well, Well! So u dummies wanna play the Leafs huh! Dont be so cocky we have great success againts you guys this year and my boy Kessel starting scoring on u idiots! Remember last game? Becarful what you wish for Bruins fans cuz u might catch the Red Hot Leafs! GO LEAFS GO! GO Leafs GO Leafs GO!!

    • bruins4eva says:

your laughs are hot cuz you won a couple of games…and your team has noooo playoff experience….hence why phoenix and L.A. were out early last year…and ron wilson couldn’t coach a 2 year old on how to walk…thats why san jose couldn’t get out of there own way

    • #4 says:

Haha Kessel would Crap himself in a series against the Bruins.

He’d absolutely Disapear if you should worry about Grabo i’d agree kids damn good under pressure.

    • lucic crew says:

You dickheads aren’t going to make the playoffs, the laughs have been playing mediocre teams wait and see when they play better teams. Oh is that philly your playing tonight we shall see after tonight DICKHEAD GOOOOOOOO BSSSSSSSSS!!

    • Bruins says:

You’re back? I guess Kessel is on one of his famous 5 game hot streaks. See you again after his 25 game slump where he’s completely invisible, or I guess in this case, next season.

    • moast says:

Who is this Kessel’s Bro guy? I mean really, they win a few and they start trolling to pick fights….eat a dick you fuck! I would love for the Bruins to play the Laffs in the first round…I know Burke doesn’t want to see it as he’s already said he doesn’t want to make the first round just to get spanked.
I will say that they are playing better as of late, but to think that they have a chance against this Bruins team is pretty fucked up!

  47. Bruins says:

I can’t believe we didn’t score at the end there.

  48. Gcole says:

Let’s see a fight or something

  49. Gcole says:

    YES! games getting nasty!!

  50. Bruins says:

Tampa has more pussies than a women’s rights meeting.

  51. Bruins says:

Hahaha what a clusterfuck of a goal.

  52. Haus says:

All 6 Dmen were frigging immense tonight!

  53. lucic crew says:

7 wins in a row woooooooooo GOOOOOOOO BSSSSSSSSS!

  54. backbruin says:

Lucic=Neely…..and i was there from neely’s start…..it’s getting there for this young stud…wow whata a shot!!!

    • moast says:

Goal average per year as a Bruin:
      Neely – 34
      Lucic – 15.5

Lucic has a ways to go to reach Neely status but I am loving every minute of it! I love when players prove people wrong, like saying Lucic will never score as much as Neely, soon enough at this rate!
He hits, fights and is intimidating like Neely….love it!

      • #4 says:

        Cam Neely stats
        Year 1: 16 G
        Year 2: 21 G
        Year 3: 14 G
        Year 4: 36 G

        Year 1: 8 G
        Year 2: 17 G
        Year 3: 9 G
Year 4: 28 G and counting on pace for 36G!

        looks pretty similar to me!

      • moast says:

I was saying as a Bruin. They are still pretty close in there first 4 pro seasons….not disagreeing with you. Im actually agreeing with you that I feel he will be very similar to Neely but does have a bit to go.

      • backbruin says:

ya that’s what i was saying…he’s getting there but when the comaprisons were starting too fly 2 years ago i was in no way in agreement but i’m being proved wrong game after game!!

his shot may be better now but his hands have a ways to go!

  55. moast says:

So is it now safe to say that the Big Bad Bruins are back?!!!

  56. pearson says:

  57. ELWOPPO says:

Kampfer injured, Did not play in the third after that big hit!! Will be evaluated today! With Ference and Hnidy already out, Maby the B’s will call up 6’7 250 pound Boris Valibik? Chara and Valibik would be Just scary!

    • pearson says:

and possibly the slowest dline in all of hockey. im all for havin him up but not with chara.

7 in a row. if it goes to 8, which it should, then we get the habs in fight night round 2. bring ittttt

  58. mook says:

undefeated since acquiring kaberle, kelly and peverley. or maybe since getting rid of wheeler.

  59. Kick-ass says:

Valibik against the habs… mouhahah !
